The impact of our “One Woman - One Dream” retreat, the fresh crisp colors of early fall, the coolness of the air, kids in school, our time becomes more of ours, new products to show, new people to work with, new Consultants to train and our goals set in faster motion! A saying goes that self discipline weighs ounces in comparison to regret, which weighs tons. for every disciplined effort there are multiple rewards. For each challenge, a new understanding. For each failure, a new determination. life is like that. Even the bad experiences of life provide their own special contribution. I see so much of this determination in all of you. Rick Warren said in an interview, “Life is a series of problems, either you are in one now, you’re just coming out of one, or you’re getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character, than your comfort. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. AND no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for. You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems. If you focus on your problems, you’re going into self- centeredness, which is ‘my problem, my pain.’ But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.” This October, in Loveland, Colorado, in a place that is filled with the spirit of goodness, beauty and love, we will all come together. We will come together to fill each others cups, to bond, to bless, to learn, to be inspired and to inspire many, many others. Truly the fragrance lingers on the hand that gives the rose. It is an honor to stand tall with you in the times of success or sometimes at the bottom of the scoreboard. No real matter. Congratulations to Colleen Beller’s son Ethan!

Ethan created the winning design for the Ave Festival in Parker, Colorado. Ethan started with the flag and the cross and then the Beller family pulled together to finish the final design. Ethan's creation made in on the city banners, school t-shirts and all the advertisement designs. Way to go Ethan! He also won a full three day pass for his entire family to attend to the festival!

Give the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you. The go-getter doesn't

look around to see how much the other fellow is doing. Instead, she sets her own pace, knowing that is she can do a little thing well, she can do bigger things better. It's the spirit that makes

people great. Be doers, not wishers.Have the will to win.

You want to be a Mary Kay Sales Director

Are you considering Directorship? Are you excited about the benefits and quality of life available to you and your family as a Mary Kay Sales Director, but perhaps unsure of what it takes to get there? Or maybe you are asking yourself if you are ready or qualfied for Directorship? As a Sales Director, you become a leader who is mentoring other women to achieve their own success in the business. In reality, you are a master Consultant who is teaching other women to do the same things you have done. You are passing along your experiences and helping them grow with you. Mary Kay Ash felt very strongly about this position. She said, “There are three ways to lead: by example, by example, by example!” Your National Sales Director is always looking for dynamic women in our Area who want more, need more, and are willing to do the work. The Sales Director benchmark was designed to give you a guideline of areas to focus on in order to help you build strength in your Mary Kay business as you desire to become a Sales Director.

Sales Director benchmark

1. Attends success meetings regularly.

2. Supports Sales Directors and has a positive, teachable attitude.

3. Achieves Star Consultant status in at least 2 quarters before entering Director in Qualification.

4. On-Target Car Driver (have 5 active on your team)

5. Earns a team building medal prior to DIQ (have 3,4 or 5 new personal team members in one month).

6. Achieve Perfect 10 in 3 out of 4 months prior to DIQ (hold 10 pamper appointments in a month; 10 skin care classes in a month)

7. Loyal to Company philosophy and promotions.

8. Attends Company events (Brothers Area events, workshops, Seminar, Career Conference).

If you have achieved at least half of the items listed above, you can feel confident that you are building strength in your business and setting yourself up for success! If you are not quite there yet - I believe you will treat this list as a suggested guideline of areas to strengthen as you pursue leadership within our great Company and our National Area. I am here to mentor and encourage you as you grow, so please feel free to ask me for clarification or support on any of the benchmark items. I look forward to working with you as a Director in the making in our National Area!

“You cannot teach what you do not know, you cannot lead where you do not go.”

Big Rocks

One day an expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz," and he pulled out a one gallon wide mouth mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?"

Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes." The time management expert replied,"Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He dumped some of the gravel in and shook the jar causing the pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. He then asked the class once more if the jar was full. By this time the class was on to him and said "Probably not."

"Good" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand and started dumping it into the jar. The sand went into all of the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked if the jar was full. "NO!" the class shouted. Once again he said "Good" and grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it into the jar until the jar was filled to the brim.

Then he looked around the room and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?"

One eager beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is that no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit some more in."

"NO," the speaker replied, "that's not the point. The truth is that this illustration teaches us that if you don't put the 'big rocks' in first, you'll never get them in at all."

What are the 'big rocks' in your life? Time with our loved ones, your faith, your education, your dreams, a worthy cause, teaching or mentoring others. Remember to put these BIG ROCKS in first, or you'll never get them in at all. So, tonight, or in the morning, when you are reflecting on this short story, ask yourself this question: What are the BIG ROCKS in my life?

Then, put those in your jar first."

Nothing to Fear

There's nothing to fear --- you're as good as the best, As strong as the mightiest, too.You can win in every battle or test;

For there's no one just like you.There's only one you in the world today;

So nobody else, you see, Can do your work in as fine a way:You're the only you there'll be!

So face the world, and all life is yours to conquer and love and live:And you'll find the happiness that endures

In just the measure you give;There's nothing too good for you to possess,

Nor heights where you cannot go:Your power is more than belief or guess ---

It is something you have to know.

There is nothing to fear --- you can and you will.For you are the invincible you.

Set your foot on the highest hill --- There's nothing you cannot do.
