INDEFINITE PRONOUNS
*Refer to people or things without saying exactly who or what they are.
E.g.: - Someone knocked at the door.
We don’t know who it is. We just heard a knock and assume it is a person.
- Something must have happened.
We know there is a problem but we haven’t found out yet what it is exactly.
Some indefinite pronouns
When an indefinite pronoun is the subject, it always takes a singular verb.
E.g.: Everyone knows that.
Everything was fine.

We often use a plural pronoun to refer back to an indefinite pronoun
