Algebraic expression
In mathematics, an algebraic expression is an expression built up from constants, variables, and a finite number of algebraic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and exponentiation by a exponent that is a rational number).
Cell
A small unit of volume in a mathematical coordinate system.
Column
Usually, in math, it's a vertical stripe of numbers.
Row
Things lying side-by-side. Objects, People, Numbers, etc. in a horizontal line.
5, 7, 11, 20, 22
Evaluate
• When we substitute a specific value for each variable, and then perform the operations, it's called evaluating the expression.
• Let's evaluate the expression 3y + 2y when 5 = y.
Formula
Numbers and symbols that show how to work something out.
General pattern
Things in an Algebraic expression that occur every time and do not change. Parts that are not in a general pattern are usually represented by variables.
Rate
Is a ratio between two measurements with different units.
Special case
Replacing any variable with any number.
1. X+3=5+32. 7xm=7x2
Square root
The square root of a number is a number which multiplied by itself, gives you the original number.
Unit rate
A unit rate is a ratio where the second component is equal to 1.
Variable
A symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y.
