1.1Why did you use a computer? What other systems / resources could you have used?

I used a computer for this activity because it would be easier to get my PowerPoint out to a wider range of audience. Another reason why I used the computer is because I would have more resources on the computer to use like Microsoft word ort PowerPoint and I could use the school website and google images to help with my PowerPoint with pictures. If I didn’t use PowerPoint then I could of used excel or Microsoft word however I used PowerPoint. Instead of using a computer I would have had to write all the work down so a computer was my first choice.

1.2What skills did you need to learn in order to use PowerPoint?

The skills that I needed to use PowerPoint is how to change a chart colours and a different format from the old one so that it looks like our own. If people can not read my writing it would be easier for them to read on a computer, and need to know how to check spell check and spell count. Change colours on a computer and change text size. Copy and paste pictures and videos. We also had to learn how to drag a sound from a file to my PowerPoint. Changing the format of the PowerPoint to suite the audience that I am making the PowerPoint for.

1.2What resources did you need to make the presentation successful?

To make my PowerPoint successful I needed to use pictures on every slide because it would be more interesting for the reader and it can help give your point of view out to the audience if they don't understand it in the text. I used one sound in the PowerPoint which was a bell that we have in the school which I wanted to use at the end so that it would relate to the end of the school day. A video which was a video of the school which I used so that they understand how big the school is and what it looks like before they get into the school.

1.4What factors might have affected how well you completed the presentation? (e.g. time / attendance / knowledge of software)

I don’t think that I spent enough time on my presentation because when I finished it I just stopped working on it were I could of checked it over instead of just sitting around waiting for over people to finish. My attendance could not of affected my presentation because from what I remember I didn’t miss a lesson of IT for my presentation. My knowledge of the software is average because I know how to work it however I don’t know every think which could of made my essay any better. The only thing out of these three that mainly affected my presentation is time.

1.6Why did you use PowerPoint to make your presentation? What other software was available? Why did you choose not to use them?

I used PowerPoint because it would be easier to section parts of the school that I want to show the new year 7’s like subjects and teachers. I could of used word for this presentation but I would of made it easier. I could of used publisher but that is really for posters which I would of just had to fill the whole poster full of writing instead of photos and words so if I did use publisher it would have been more boring and they wouldn’t of listened or read it. I did kind of use publisher but that was only so that I could get a chart that was made for my PowerPoint.

2.2Which tools within PowerPoint made it appropriate for your presentation?

I can copy and paste photos from the internet that would make it more easy to show my point of view. How to insert a photo that I have saved in my area that I have got from a folder that has photos from around the school and all about the school. I also had to learn how to change the format of a chart so that I could make it look like my own. Another tool that made it appropriate for us to use PowerPoint because it made it easy to split up the different sections that I wanted to include in the PowerPoint.

1.7Were there any legal constraints or local constraints that changed the way you created your presentation? (e.g. copyright, file sizes, AUP)

I did take a couple of photos from the internet which I have put onto my PowerPoint which if you didn’t look up for you wouldn’t know and I also took some photos from a folder which was made for the class which was full of photos that are all about smiths wood like photos from around the school and teachers and pupils however I never put any pupils in my PowerPoint. I di put a video of around the school so that they would have an idea of how big the school is and were they have to go.

2.4What improvements do you think you could do to your presentation?

The improvement that I think that I could do to my PowerPoint is taking away some pictures from one of my slides that I have done because there is too many pictures that I have used so that I could use up the space. I could of also used more colours for my writing that represent boys and girls so that it would stand out more to the audience. As well I could of put the school logo in the same place on every single slide so that it would be easier for the audience to locate were every think is.

3.2What improvements do you think you could have done to improve your work rate?(keyboard shortcuts, file names & locations, backups, work after school, templates, planning)

To improve my work rate I could of stayed in a seat were I would not of been distracted by any workers around me and I could have had full concentration on my work. I could of also never moved out of my seat when other people are talking in a group I don’t need to join I and make me fall behind in my work. Having days off school or being late to lesson I am missing time off making my work better or completing my work. Once I finished my work I just left it and I never even looked over it to see if I could improve it.
