Christ-Redeemer

Merciful love

The Virgin Mary and St. Francis

Luis Amigo published throughout his life 48 pastoral exhortations which are

considered as authentic teachings full of more lofty spirituality. And in those

teachings is revealed a vision of Christ- Redeemer, woven by merciful love

and supplemented with spiritual figures as the Virgin Mary and St. Francis of

Assisi.

The Christ of LuisAmigo is a Redeemer Christ that constitutes the way, truth

and life for the lost sheep who are to be guided by the figure of the Good

Shepherd. This merciful love is the most genuine expression of the

redemptive work of Christ.

For Luis Amigo participation in the redemptive work of Christ, which should

mark the life of every Christian, is realized in collaboration with the Good

Shepherd to attract into its fold the lost sheep.

The mystery of the Cross becomes the crucial point of the teaching of Luis

Amigo. It is in this that the paschal meaning of suffering and anguish are

explained. Without the cross one cannot love nor suffer when you are not

capable to love.

The merciful love that God shows to man in Christ is, for LuisAmigo, the final

argument by which man is called to respond to God, loving Him as our

preferential option, wholeheartedly, without measure.

Luis Amigo shows the Virgin Mary as the most loyal and intimate

collaborator in the work of Christ the Redeemer. Also shows her as a model

of love and mercy.

Fray Luis Amigo also presents St. Francis as the most perfect reflection of

Christ. The burning figure of St. Francis serves to highlight Luis Amigo´s

redemptive spirit, restorer and reformer which underlie all his theological

thought and whose only center is Christ the Redeemer.

1. Father Luis Amigo was the founder of the Shrine ofthe Congregation of Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of theHoly Family.

2. In Montiel's cottage is located a museum where Fr.LuisAmigo had the things he used while on his visitsto the shrine of Montiel, as the bed, his table, amongothers, which are objects of sentimental value.

3. In 1620, on the day of Santa Barba, in the house ofMontiel, Pastor Graciano contemplated theappearance of the Virgin of Montiel.

4. The transfer of the first religious Amigonians wasfrom Cartuja of Our Lady ofAra Christi del Puig, to theConvent of Our Lady of Mount Zion el Cerrillo.
