What’s the stem/root of a verb?What’s the ending of a verb?
The ending is the last 2 letters of the verb. In Spanish, all verbs end in “ar, er, or ir”.
The stem/root of a verb contains ALL of the letters except the ending…….or every letter leading up to the ending.
Our new verb “costar” = to cost.
Stem = cost
Ending = ar

In the following verbs, the “o” changes to “ue” in all forms, EXCEPT nosotros & vosotros.

encontrar—to find
almorzar——to (eat) lunch
*costar——to cost*usually only use él/ella/Ud. & ellos/ellas/Uds. forms of costar

The “o” changes to “ue”.*Only the nosotros outside of the shoe does not stem change.
