7. Green Procurement Initiative

2013. UNFPA launched its Green Procurement strategy2015. On-going activities:

• Introduction to Sustainability Initiative: Exchange with male condom manufacturers to implement greener production procedures

• Member of the Informal Interagency Task Team on Sustainable Procurement in the Health Sector (UNHCR, UNDP, UNFPA, WHO, UNEP, UNOPS, UNITAID, The Global Fund, Gavi)

Next Steps:• Sustainability side session at ISO/TC 157 “Non Systemic Contraceptives and STI

Barrier Prophylactics” meeting in September

• Making ISO14001 certification (environmental management systems) a requirement for upcoming male condom prequalification rounds
