Vision & Mission

UNESCO-IHE envisions a world in which people manage their water and environmental resources in a sustainable manner, and in which all sectors of society can enjoy the benefits of basic services.

Mission of the Institute is to contribute to the education and training of professionals and to build the capacity of sector organisations and knowledge centres in the fields of water, the environment and infrastructure, in developing countries and countries in transition.

• 160 full time-equivalents of which 53% academic and 47% supporting staff and a large (global) guest faculty

• 4 Water and Environment Related Master Programmes with 15 specialisations

• 200 new MSc participants started in October 2010

• 175 MSc degrees awarded in 2010

• 130 registered PhD fellows

• 7 PhD graduations in 2010

• 320 professionals in 60 regular short courses

• 250 participants in 22 online courses

• 400 professionals in 25 tailor-made trainings

• 2 refresher seminars held for 38 alumni

• 250 scientific publications

• 150 capacity development projects
