Understanding what sharks eat, where they live, and the
different types of sharks.
Sharks
What do sharks eat? Most sharks are
carnivores, or meat eaters.
They eat fish, birds, and sea mammals like seals, and dolphins.
Where do sharks live?Sharks are fish
who live in the ocean.
Sharks have lived on earth since before the dinosaurs.
About Sharks:Sharks have
very sharp teeth and they loose them up to 7 times a year.
They have other 30,000 teeth in their life.
Sharks can’t stop swimming or they will sink.
Some sharks are scary and dangerous, but some are nice and gentle.
Different Types of Sharks:
Bull SharkThird most
dangerous to people.
Can swim in salt and fresh water.
Some can be found in the Mississippi river.
Great White SharkMore attacks on
people than any other type of shark.
Averages about 12 feet long and 3,000 pounds.
Largest recorded Great White is found in South Africa.
Hammerhead SharkThey are unlikely
to attack people.Their size ranges
from 10 to 20 feet.Their eyes and
nostrils are far apart, giving it a “hammerhead” look.
Their favorite food is stingrays.
Nurse Shark Lives at the bottom of
the ocean.They have whiskers on
their mouth that are used for touch and taste.
They hunt at night, and sleep during the day.
Most common shark fount in an aquarium.
