■ Social Security benefits are protected from most assignment of benefits, except when a legal process is brought in a State Court for enforcement of a legal obligation to provide:

■ Automated system allows local social security field office to effectuate garnishment actions
■ Notice sent to garnishment beneficiary and the court
■ Individuals do not have any right of appeal to SSA
