Women’s Fall Retreat at Mission Springs Conference Center

Understanding Our Stories

Fall Retreat 2016 Information Understanding Our Stories

This Fall Retreat is hosted by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and we invite all women to attend. We especially invite our sisters in the United Church of Christ to the retreat. Disciples love to share in ecumenical partnerships. This year we will embody our stories, hear the stories of our sisters, and tell a new story for our futures. Welcome, sisters!

Included are registration materials and some information about the flow of the weekend. Come and tell your story.

General Retreat Information • Directions to Mission Springs can be found at www.missionsprings.com/contact • We will have a gigantic Blessing Box available in the worship center throughout the retreat.

Every time you are blessed throughout the retreat, you are invited to place a coin (or two or three) in the box. Blessing Box proceeds benefit Disciples Mission Fund. Checks may be made out to Disciples Mission fund with “Blessing Box Offerings” written in the memo.

• The Sunday worship offering will be divided between a Global Ministries project and the Angel Grant Scholarship Fund. Global Ministries is a joint Disciples and UCC organization that funds mission all over the world. The Angel Grant Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for our women to attend our church retreats and trainings.

• We are collecting items to benefit “A Woman’s Place” in San Francisco. These items assist homeless women. Please bring empty shoe boxes (regular size — no boot boxes, please), 8 oz shampoo bottles, deodorant, toothpaste, small wash clothes. The following items need to be individually wrapped: razors, maxi pads, bar soap. Thank you for your generosity!

• We will be selling Equal Exchange Fair Trade Coffee, Tea and Chocolate to help fund Women’s Ministries and Week of Compassion.

• We are taking a break from the Recycled Book Fair this year so that we can all collect our used books for a few years and reinstitute it again!

• The weather is changeable at Mission Springs, so bring clothing layers for warm days and cool nights. Walking shoes are a must, and a flashlight is suggested.

• All of your bed linens and towels are provided.• The emergency phone number for Mission Springs is (831) 335-9133. Please note: Cell phone and

wireless reception at Mission Springs is sketchy and unreliable.

Note that the date is a little

later than usual —

Sept. 23–25.

We are happy to invite clergy

women to attend a mini-

retreat Thursday evening – Friday

afternoon.
