Completeness
• Provide all necessary information– Being Accurate and Using the W’s
• Answer all questions asked– Replying with all needed information
• Give something extra
Conciseness
• Be the following– Brief – Relevant and to the point– Say it once!
Consideration
• Focus on “You” rather than “I”– Assumes you know their needs
• Showing an interest– Talk about their benefits
• Emphasising the positive and the pleasant– Turn a Con into a Pro
Concreteness
• Use Specific Facts and Figures– Ie GCSE Results are up– Use GCSE results are up 5% this year
compared to 3% the year before
• Actions• Vivid and Image building words which
are impressive and appealing
Clarity
• Precise, Concrete and Familiar words

• Where can you see any evidence of the 7C rule used on the articles in front of you?
Portfolio Task
• Create an A3 poster / checklist explaining each of these principles of effective communication with examples.
• Maintain a good mix of visual style for the poster, but information required to pass.
Quality is judged by Accuracy, Clarity and Presentation, as well as the actual message itself.
