Perfect your English and study skills and begin the path to university admission•Start your language studies in the Intensive English Language Program (IELP). Take a test when you arrive to determine your current language level.
•Participate in unique coursework and social engagement activities designed to prepare you specifically for Temple University.
•Receive ongoing academic advising.
•Once you progress to the Intermediate 3 level in all core classes (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking), you are eligible to take the placement test to enter the Access Temple (Conditional Admission) Program. You do not need to retake TOEFL or IELTS.

Guarantee your admission to Temple University after successful completion of Access Temple •Engage in specialized academic English classes while also taking university credit-bearing classes. •Depending on your TOEFL or IELTS score, take either one semester (AT2) or two semesters (AT1 and AT2).*
Access Temple 1 – 65-73 TOEFL or 5.5 IELTS requires two semesters of Access Temple •First semester: take 15 – 20 hours per week of intensive academic English classes and two credit-bearing classes, and receive six credits. •Second semester: take 15 hours per week of intensive academic English classes and credit-bearing classes, and receive up to seven credits. After completing both semesters, accumulate up to 13 credits. Access Temple 2 – 74-78 TOEFL requires only one semester of Access Temple •In one semester, take up to 15 hours per week of intensive academic English classes and two credit-bearing classes, and receive seven credits.

If you meet all admissions requirements except for language, our Temple Transitions Program is your pathway to becoming a fully matriculated student. Based on your language test scores, you may be placed in Temple Path (Provisional Admission) or Access Temple (Conditional Admission). After starting in the appropriate Transitions program, you can become a Temple University undergrad in as little as one semester or up to two years (length of time dependent on language level).

Fourteen-week sessions with six start dates per year allow you to begin your studies when it is convenient for you. You can stay for one session or until you reach the IELP’s highest academic level. Choose what works best for you. Seven-week sessions are also available.
THE IELP OFFERS:
• 21 hours of classwork per week in writing, reading, listening and speaking.• 12 levels ranging from beginner to advanced, allowing you to move up in the program as your proficiency improves.• Targeted enrichment courses that improve specific skills, such as pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary and grammar.• A variety of courses that give you extra practice in English conversation and American idioms in a relaxed environment. Extra activities provide the opportunity to watch and discuss movies, learn English through volunteering and chat with Americans!
