AGENDA

I. Call to Order – At 6:05 pm, Vice President Paxton Morse called the meeting to order of the

Undergraduate Student Government at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

II. Induction of Senators - Senators Shalane Scott, Dannaka White, Jarvaus Burks, Guilin

Wang, Dezsharay Wilkin, Brandon Morgan, Stephan Harris, Victor Arevalo, Adriana Avina,

Ajara Yakoubou, Daniel Vega, Jarrett Jones, Shanisesha Love, and Joseph Clark.

Roll Call – Secretary, Cushé Blackmon, took roll. The following Senators were present:

Interjection – Motion to recognized Jacquiese Robinson. Motion passed.

III. No Excusal of Senator(s)

IV. Approval of the Minutes – The minutes were approved from September 4, 2018.

V. Approval of Meeting Agenda – Agenda was adopted

VI. Executive Reports

a. Secretary, Cushe Blackmon– Informed Senators to speak clearly and loud when

giving reports. Senate meetings will be on Facebook live at the next meeting.

Chief of Staff, Mikala Barrett– Informed Senate that there are a total of 26

Senators with two Senator petitions processing.

Treasurer, Dacia Brown – Stated that there were three Funding Board positions

open. Brown will be hosting “Funding Informationals.” The finance report stated

that Operational funding had $57,777. Fall 1 disbursement was $10,662. Totaling

as $68,439. A total of $181,561is left unused.

Vice President for Student Affairs, Bethany Peppers –SIU is celebrating

Hispanic Heritage Month. All RSO’s need to be registered on Saluki Connect.

Vice President, Paxton Morse – Briefed Senate of Parliamentary Procedures.

Morse mad Senators aware of the Senator Retreat. Informed Senate that a Proxy

must notify him 48 hours before Senate meeting. Senators are only allowed to

miss two meetings.

VII. President, Toussaint Mitchell – Displayed a slide show that included various topics

pertaining to USG such as, the purpose of USG, expectations of Senators, and different

committees for Senators to sit on.

X. Student Funding Board – Senators Tiana Hamilton, Dannaka White, and Jarvaus Burks were elected.

XI. Internal Affairs Committee – Senators Brandon Morgan, Treyonne Rawls and Jacquiese Robinson were elected.

elected.

XVIII. Student Health Advisory Board – Senators Jarrett Jones and Dezsharay Wilkin were

elected.

XIX. Intercollegiate Athletics - Senators Jarvaus Burks and Jarrett Jones were elected.

XX. Naming of University Facilities – Senator Joseph Clark was elected.

XXI. Traffic and Parking – Senator Cody Suddeth was elected

XXII. Diversity and Equity Affairs Committee – Senator Daniel Vega was elected

XXIII. Culture of Respect Initiative – Senators Victor Arevalo and Guilin Wang were elected.

XXIV. University Accreditation Steering Committee- Senators Jarvaus Burks and Avian Wilkins

were elected.
