ABOUT THE IRDO CONFERENCE, FOR THE 10th TIME!

IRDO – Institute for the Development of So-cial Responsibility has been organizing con-ferences under common title “Social Respon-sibility and current challenges” since 2006. It is our pleasure to invite you to jubilee, the 10th IRDO International Conference. This year’s conference is devoted to planning and reporting about social responsibility. At the conference we will present scientific and en-trepreneurial points of view of the men-tioned matter as well as examples of good practices. Aims of the 10th IRDO International Confer-ence 2015 are: 1. Exchanging opinions and experiences

about planning, reporting and transpar-ency of social responsibility (SR) from the theoretical and practical point of view;

2. Exposing advantages and disadvantages of the current theoretical and practical views of strategic planning and report-ing about SR regarding different partici-pant’s groups: owners and sharehold-ers, managers, employees and employ-ers, entrepreneurs and representatives of media, governmental and non-governmental organizations;

3. Stimulating good practice and present-ing possibilities and results of planning and reporting about SR (examples of good practices from Slovenia and abroad);

4. Contributing expert valuation for na-tional strategy of social responsibility development;

5. Suggesting reformation of socioeco-nomic measures, which would support transparency of planning and reporting about SR;

6. Informing society of the advantages of planning and reporting about SR.

It is our yearly tradition since 2006 to make a state-of-art review in the field of develop-ment and functioning of social responsibility with the Conference “Social responsibility and current challenges”; at the same time we stress a particular theme that is the most cur-rent at the time. IRDO is the only one in Slo-venia when it comes to this kind of topic of the conference. We successfully connect the-ory with practice, scientific view with practi-cal use of SR, and connect different branches of business, knowledge, professions and oc-cupation – therefore we work interdiscipli-nary to resolve problems and issues of mod-ern society requisitely holistically.

WHAT IS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ?

The guiding standard on social responsibility ISO26000:2010 defines social responsibility as responsibility of the organization for its impact on the en-vironment and society. Therefore a modern organization should act trans-parently and ethically, thus contributing to a sustained development including health and well-being of society; it should consider expectations of all stakeholders, legislation and interna-tional norms and standards. Social re-sponsibility should be integrated throughout the entire organization and must be implemented in all its relations in their interdependence. Society and organizations are made of individuals, meaning we all have to act socially re-sponsibly. Social responsibility strives to balance out the life of the individual and society. The deceased Slovene psycholo-gist Prof. Dr. Anton Trstenjak wrote nu-merous works about the importance of balance for a healthy life of an individ-ual. It is of no surprise that we fre-quently hear about importance of bal-ance for health of the society, all its resi-dents, systems, environment, compa-nies, organizations etc..

10 YEARS OF CONFERENCE AND IRDO INSTITUTE IRDO – Institute for the Development of Social Responsibility was founded in

2004 with the purpose of research and development of social responsibility in Slovenia and abroad. IRDO strives to connect all crucial stakeholders (companies, government, civil society…) in the field of social responsibility and to perform common activities and cam-paigns to raise awareness of social re-sponsibility in Slovenia. IRDO contrib-utes to the transfer and adjustment of foreign knowledge to Slovenia’s circum-stances and needs. At the same time it enables exchange of Slovenian knowl-edge and experience with foreign ex-perts, companies and organizations.
