Rural El Salvador One-Week Hosted Stay
Stay with member Patty Lawless in her simple house in rural El Salvador. Travel to and from the airport in El Salvador,
housing and meals provided. Air transportation to El Salvador (usually $550-$750/person) and tourist card ($10/person)

Accommodations for up to 4 people. Visit with local residents in the rural farming community of Papaturro, in rural
Cuscatlan. Participate in and observe community life, including a rural school, clinic, micro lending committee,
scholarship program and farming and animal husbandry. Meet local community leaders and listen firsthand to the
history of the repression and exile during the war and the incredible determination of the Salvadoran refugees to
resettle their land against all odds. Practice your Spanish! Patty will provide a daily Spanish lesson, if requested. She will
also be able to interpret for you if you do not speak Spanish. Enjoy day trips to the regional colonial town of Suchitoto
and the World Heritage archaeological site of Joya de Ceren, a remarkably preserved indigenous farming village from c.
