NationsUniversity Graduation: July 2017

Graduation has always been a point of great anticipation. From my high school graduation through several college experiences, I never tired of dressing in robes, marching into an assembly hall, and hearing my name called as I walked across the stage to receive my diploma. As a faculty member, I have accompanied students as they did the same. Then, as an administrator, I have had even more pleasure shaking the hand of the students as I handed them their diplomas. Oh, graduation! What a sweet experience.

I generally say to graduates, “Congratulations!” After a pause, I will add something like this: “Now, that you have your honor, put it behind you and do your work as a servant.”

A group of South African students held their own commencement ceremony to celebrate their achievements. Thanks to Jonathan Chuma for sharing this photo.

NationsU Graduates ShareNationsUniversity is proud of its graduating students. What a great feeling of

accomplishment these students must be feeling having earned their degrees. But graduation is not an end goal in itself; it is instead a doorway to much larger things in the journey of life. Having a diploma is like having a key that can unlock many doors that were once closed. NationU is proud of its students and their determination to earn a degree and to further their work in God’s Kingdom.

Here are a few samplings shared by NationsU students:It is obvious that you are expecting to hear some excellent and breath-taking

news from me. Indeed there is great news. I would like to appreciate you and the entire NU staff for according me a chance to study Master of theological studies. With your help and that of all the faculty members I successfully graduated.

I have made several applications to various seminaries and universities, the good news is that all schools have admitted me based mostly on the Master of Theological Studies from NationsUniversity—owing to the fact that the university is accredited and recognized.

Pious N. Musokosh—ZambiaI am delighted to give all my sincere thanks and gratitude to you. I am pleased

to tell you that I have received my Certificate of Religious Studies yesterday. Thank you Gail, my mouth is so small to say thanks to you and all the NU Staff. May God richly bless and continue to guide and protect you in all your doings. You all are always in my prayers. Thank you Lord Jesus. May your Glorious name be praised for ever. I am so much happy.

Charles Mungu—Sierra LeoneI praise God for NationsUniversity for having equipped me this far, that I now

have a real chance of being employed by a reputable University like UNISA. You guys are doing a great job for offering us this great quality education in religion. Praise God!

Mwenge Mufuzi—South Africa

I would like to express my gratitude to you and NationsUniversity for helping me complete my Bachelor’s Degree. I felt as if I had achieved one of my greatest accomplishments in my life. I could not have done this without your patience and understanding.

Stan Denhof—US Prison Student

Seven Safety Tips Every NU Student Should Be Usinglogin. If you use the same one then everything becomes compromised.

5. Avoid opening email attachments that you are not expecting—no matter who appears to have sent it. Most worms and Trojan-laden spam try to spoof the sender’s name. And make sure your email client isn’t leaving you open to infection.

6. Don’t provide your social security number or credit card information unless the website

displays a secure URL, prefaced with “https” — the “s” stands for “secure.” And even when you must provide credit card information or other private information, do so prudently.

7. Be aware of sharing too much information on social media, as well. For example, why supply

your mother’s maiden name, list your birthday, or your address? Identity thieves and other criminals exploit social media accounts to gain access to information.

No plan is fool-proof but you can minimize your risk and any damage if follow these steps. Stay safe online!

Achieving good computer security can be intimidating for some people. Fortunately, a few simple steps can provide a good measure of security without a lot of effort.

1. Use antivirus software and keep it up-to-date. Having the latest up dates is vital to keeping you safe. Everyday there are new threats that can infect your computer. Stay on top with the latest updates.

2. Installing security patches is the next important step. Vulnerablities in software are constantly being discovered. Check for updates for all the software you use, do this at least on a monthly basis.

3. Update your browser. When was the last time you did this? Students who are making online tuition payments are often declined because their browser is out of date. If your browser is out of date then your information is vulnerable.

4. Use strong passwords and don’t use the same one across multiple areas. Definitely avoid using the same one for your social media login as you do for your bank

We receive a lot of questions about the Certificate in Biblical Studies (C.B.S.). The most often asked question is: “Why am I in the C.B.S. program? I applied for the Bachelor of Religious Studies (B.R.S.) program.” The C.B.S. program is a chance for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. By the time you complete this program you will know if we are a good fit for you, and we will know if you can do the work involved. It is NationsUniversity policy that all incarcerated undergraduate students begin with the C.B.S. program. Upon completion of C.B.S., you may apply for B.R.S. Upon applying to the program there will be some requirements you must meet to move forward. The ability to type papers will be a requirement. The ability to purchase some books will also be a factor in gaining acceptance. Be assured that all courses completed for the C.B.S. will apply toward the B.R.S. if you are accepted into that program.

For those of you who have email access through CorrLinks, JPay or other systems please note that we no longer accept emails from prisoners. There is no way to archive the emails and we were unable to send attachments. While it is slower, postal mail is still the best means of communication between NU and the prison student.
