UKMDEPARTMENT OF CIVIL & STRUCTURAL ENGINEERINGFACULTY OF ENGINEERING & BUILT ENVIRONMENT
WHY UKM?UKM is one of the leading research universities in Malaysia. Located in Bandar Baru Bangi, only 35 kilometres away from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Kuala Lumpur city centre, the Malaysian administrative centre, Putrajaya and the global tech hub of Cyberjaya, the beautiful campus offers easy access anywhere. Bangi is a dynamic town and is known as the education hub with numerous universities and colleges within proximity.
We take pride in working hard towards becoming a sustainable university. A host of green technologies, mostly the fruit and outcome of our research programmes are implemented and incorporated into our campus activities.
THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL & STRUCTURAL ENGINEERINGThe Department of Civil & Structural Engineering is one of the vibrant engineering departments of the Faculty. It was conceived to nurture young, energetic scientist to become competent civil engineers. As the department matures, we strive to produce civil engineers who are not only technically competent but also versatile, ethical with a keen sense of entrepreneurship.
Our academicians are highly qualified with more than 85% holding PhD degrees. They are both academic and research savvy. Technical assistants are available and more than willing to facilitate research projects and provide help in any of the taught courses.
PROGRAMMEOur programme is designed to meet the objectives of producing engineers with a global outlook, sound technical capability, innovative and embrace a life-long learning attitude. The programme offers the four classical fields in civil engineering, i.e. structural engineering & composite construction, sustainable water resources, geotechnical and transportation engineering. Potential students are given choices to enrol in the programme according to their needs, interest and passion.
To be a graduate, a mandatory 45 credit hours of classes must be fulfilled with a CGPA no less than 3.0. You are also expected to complete satisfactorily 12 credit hours of short dissertation.
