Application for checks by the IMarEST Executive1) That the applicant is suitably qualified in terms of level of
experience and academic qualifications for the category of professional registration, for which they are applying.
2) That the academic qualifications are accredited by the IMarEST and if applicable, by any other licensed body.
3) That all the required documentation is provided with the application form, for example, a detailed CV outlining the applicants competencies mapped against the requirements for registration on the desired register and verified copies of their academic qualifications.
4) That the applicant has paid the appropriate fee for their application.
5) That the applicant has obtained a suitable referee.
The Membership Committee meets approximately every 2 months. The Membership Committee is empowered by the Council of the IMarEST to review all applications for membership and registration.The Membership Committee checks to see that each candidate has acquired all the competencies required for registration. Once the Membership Committee is content with an applicants submission, they will ask the IMarEST Executive to arrange for a Professional Review Interview (PRI) to take place.The following categories of Registration require a PRI: CEng,CMarEng IEng,IMarEng CSci,CMarSci CMarTech RMarTech RMarSciMembership applications for Fellow also require a PRI
The IMarEST requires all candidates seeking professional registration at either Chartered or Incorporated/Registered level to undergo a PRI. PRIs are conducted in accordance with Engineering Council/Science Council and IMarEST Policies. The outcome of the PRI will be submitted to the Membership Committee for them to make the final decision.
