Hopefully everyone has had a lovely weekend and is ready to start a new week! Below are some wonderful things happening in UHP so please check them out! Registration: is coming up for us on Monday, November 7th so please make sure you make an advising appointment! You can do this by going to the 49er Express homepage and clicking Niner Adviser on the bottom of the right hand side of the screen, it's a green box! Relay for Life Candy/Bake Sale: our first candy and bake sale is this week on Monday and Tuesday, October 17-18th in front of the Student Union! Come out and show your support by buying some sweets, the proceeds go to Relay for Life! Junior/Senior Alumni Connections: Juniors and Seniors, please RSVP yes or no to Mina at [email protected] ASAP! We need a head count of who is coming because the event is in 2 weeks! Habitat for Humanity: This week, October 17-21, is Act, Speak, Build (ASB) week, so please check out the many events going around campus involving Habitat. For a list of events check out their Facebook, Habitat for Humanity-UNC-Charlotte! Operation Christmas Child: Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is in effect! I have sent an email for those who were interested in this event, if anyone else is interested or would like to know more about OCC, please email me at [email protected]. Also, for those doing OCC we will have a wrapping party on Friday, November 4 from 11-2pm in the Honors office in the Cone Center. So please collect any shoe boxes, or wrapping paper you have! Crisis Ministry: Jordan Slusher is going to the Crisis Ministry on Saturday, November 12th and was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining, if you are please email him at [email protected] Tutoring at CPCC: One of our UHP'ers, David Jordan has started tutoring at Central Piedmont Community College and he would like you to join in too! CPCC is looking for tutors to work within their Community Development Program. As a tutor you will work with adult students who are working towards getting their GED. Some students are working on first to eighth grade level and others are working on a high school level. If you are interested in being a tutor, please RSVP to the orientation to David Jordan at [email protected]. The orientation is on Tuesday, November 1st at 5pm in the Student Union 3rd floor in Room I. You will not be able to tutor if you don't attend an orientation session, so please take advantage of this session, because Molly, the lady from CPCC is coming specifically for UHP. If you have any further questions email David! Savannah Trip: Please respond to the SurveyShare: http://uncc.surveyshare.com/s/AQAMZHA about whether or not you are interested in the UHP trip to Savannah Ga. This trip is an awesome opportunity to spend time with your fellow UHP members while having fun exploring the city of Savannah. For those of you who missed the general meeting and didn’t get to hear about the trip, here is some info: The trip will be from March 3 rd to March 5 th (the first 3 days of Spring Break) The total cost of $140 includes: travel expenses two nights in a hotel dinner at Paula Deen’s “Lady and Sons” two breakfast meals Owens-Thomas House admission “Jepson Art Center” admission Carriage Tour of Savannah
