UH-Manoa Center for Philippine Studies’ Ligaya Fruto Endowment Fund & community partners proudly present a special talk-performance with GRACE NONO MONDAY, JUNE 6, 2016 DORIS DUKE THEATER, HONOLULU MUSEUM OF ARTS 7:00 TO 8:30 PM Join music performing artist, cultural activist, and music and shamanism scholar Grace Nono as she sings and speaks about decolonizing voice and reclaiming cultural relations. Grace's two award-winning books: The Shared Voice: Spoken and Chanted Narratives from the Philippines (2008), and Song of the Babaylan: Living Voices, Medicines, Spiritualities of Philippine Ritualist-Oralist Healers (2013) discuss the intersections of ritual, healing, and oral traditions from the points of view of practitioners from different parts of the Philippines. This special night is not to be missed! Doors open at around 6:30 pm. To save a seat (general seating, first come first serve), go to gracenonohonolulu.eventbrite.com . Free and open to the public but donations are welcome and accepted at the door.
