Eligibility CriteriaThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) opened online application process on October 15 for National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2014 on behalf of the UGC. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions.ii)      The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.iii)      The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to Dec 1, 2002 are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India. CBSE will conduct NET in 79 subjects at 87 selected NET Coordinating Institutions spread across the country.

How to apply for the ExamThe application process of National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2014 opened a day back, October 15, 2014. This year Central Board Secondary education (CBSE) has opened online application process on behalf of UGC.

The application form can be filled online using the CBSE website before November 15, 2014. The examination will be held on December 28, 2014.

How to Apply NET December (2014)?

The eligible Candidates can visit the official website http://cbsenet.nic.in to apply online.

The application form can be filled following 4 easy steps:

The candidate should click on the Apply online button which will direct to the application form. Candidates should supply all the details while filling the Online Application Form and also required to choose password and security question and enter his/her Answer. After successful submission of the data, Roll number will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the Application Form and also required for all future correspondence. For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with his/her respective system generated Roll Number and chosen Password.

After completion of the form, candidates are required to upload the scanned photograph of following dimensions and format:

The scanned images of photograph should be in JPG format. Size of the photo image must be greater than 4 kb and less than 40 kb. Image Dimension of photograph should be 3.5 cm(width) * 4.5 cm(Height) only

 Once the image is uploaded, the examination fee needs to be paid either by bank challan or or debit/credit card:

For Payment by Syndicate Bank/ ICICI/ Canara Bank challan: The candidate has to select bank (Syndicate/Canara/ICICI) to deposit the application fee through e-Challan mode. As soon as he/she selects, an e-Challan will be generated containing specific details of the candidate along with amount to be paid. The candidate has to take a printout of the same and take it to the nearest branch of the selected bank for making payment. After the confirmation of fee deposited from Bank/CBSE, the candidate will be able to print the Filled Application Form, Attendence Slip and Admission Card.

Payment by Debit/Credit Card: The candidate has to select Debit/Credit Card option to pay the application fee and follow the online instruction to complete the payment of fee. After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the Filled Application Form, Attendence Slip and Admission Card.

Lastly, after the payment of the fee, filled application form, Attendence slip and Admission card can be downloaded. All the documents listed below must be sent to Registrar/Principal of the Coordinating Institute so as to reach on or before November 25, 2014.

Print the filled Application Form, affix the identical passport size photographs in the space provided, put your signatures at the required places and send/deposit to Registrar/Principal of the Coordinating Institute.

Copy of the Bank eChallan (Coordinating Institute copy), if fee paid through eChallan  Attendance Slip duly signed with photograph (One copy). Attested copies of SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PWD)/OBC (Non creamy layer)

certificates, in case applicable. Certificate of educational qualification/research experience, in case applicable, entitling

the candidate for age relaxation, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.

UGC early this year decided to outsource NET (National Eligibility Test) to CBSE failing to conduct the test smoothly. UGC however will provide the necessary experts to prepare the question papers to CBSE. Over 33,000 candidates appeared for the examinations for the June session, results of which are yet to be announced.

The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them.

The board mentioned that the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor or both will depend on the performance of the candidate in all three papers of NET. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for award of JRF.

Online Application: Important points to rememberThe UGC NET December 2014 is scheduled to be held on December 28, 2014. The application process has opened and the aspirants can fill the online form using UGC's website.

Before filling the application forms online, candidates should go through the following points so as to complete the application process smoothly:    

Candidate must fulfil the eligibility criteria and age limit as mentioned by the UGC on the website.     

Fill the category viz., GEN/OBC (non-creamy layer)/SC/ ST/ PWD in the relevant column correctly.      

Subject and NET Coordinating Institution and code should be filled  in the relevant column correctly.

The Persons with Disability (PWD) candidates should fill the relevant column in the Online Application Form. Only PWD candidates have to fill this column and the others have to leave it blank.      

The printout of online application form, admission card and attendance slip should be duly signed by the candidate.      

Before submitting all the required documents at the NET coordinating Institutions, all the relevant documents should be enclosed properly.      

Lastly, it is very important for all the candidates to keep a copy of the submitted documents with them for their own record.

General Instructions

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) opened online application process on October 15 for National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2014 on behalf of the UGC. Eligible candidates can apply online before November 15, 2014. The examination will be held nationwide on December 28, 2014.

General Instructions have been mentioned here:

 

Candidates must read the conditions of eligibility carefully and satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility before filling the online application and submitting the printout of online application form.

Candidates will not be issued the admission card by the respective NET coordinating institutions. The mere fact that admission card has been issued at the time of online registration and the candidate is allowed to appear in the test shall not imply that the commission has finally accepted his/her candidature.

It may be noted that no admission card will be issued by the respective NET coordinating institution. Candidates are requested to ascertain their venue of the test/seating arrangement from the website of the respective NET coordinating institution and note it in their printout of online admission card.

Candidates are required to bring a photo identity card also along with their printout of online admission card on the day of examination.

Noting of seating arrangement/venue of test from the official website of respective NET coordinating institution will be the sole responsibility of candidate only. NET coordinating institution will not be responsible in this regard.

UGC may change the NET coordinating institutions or date of examination without assigning any reason.

Applications received after the last date, i.e. November 15, 2014, will not be entertained. No TA will be paid to the candidates. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.       Candidates should correspond only with their respective NET coordinating institution for

the venue of test/seating arrangement or any other relevant information. The UGC will not entertain any requests/queries in this regard.

The use of calculators or Log Tables is not permitted. Mobile phones, pagers, electronic devices etc. are not allowed in the examination hall/room.     

The candidate who don't appear in paper-I will not be permitted to appear in paper-II and paper-III.   

Candidates will not be allowed to write any question from the Test Booklet on the admission card or on any other paper.    

Candidates should ensure that the signatures appended and photographs pasted by them in all the places, viz., in their application form, attendance slip and admission card should be identical and there should be no variation of any kind.     

Candidates in their own interest are requested to retain a photocopy of the application form and attendance slip for their record.   

Applications submitted on any other format (including old UGC format) will not be accepted.      

Printout of online application sent directly to the UGC will not be accepted.       Printout of online application form must reach the NET coordinating institution opted by

the candidate latest by November 15, 2014.       Submission of online application is mandatory. Hard copies submitted to the NET

coordinating institutions without online submission will not be accepted.       Application form must be complete in all respects as per the notification. All incomplete application forms will be rejected.       The marks of all the candidates will be uploaded on UGC website soon after declaration

of result. Besides this, the UGC will not issue any marksheet to qualified/non-qualified candidates.      

Candidates having any grievances with regard to answer key(s) even after declaration of result of NET June, 2014 may send a written request to the Head, UGC NET Bureau, South Campus University of Delhi, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi-110021 supporting his/her stand with standard books/literature along with a Demand Draft of Rs 5,000 in favour of Secretary, UGC within one month from the date of declaration of result of NET December, 2014 examination. The request(s) so received will be placed before the expert committee(s) for re-examination of the answer key(s). In case the answer key(s) is/are found to be incorrect, the UGC will process the result in the light of changed key(s) and qualify the additional candidates for JRF and/or eligibility for assistant professor. Also, the result of previously qualified candidates for JRF and/or eligibility for assistant professor shall remain unchanged.      

No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before 11.30 am in the first session and 3.30 pm in the second session.    

Candidates shall have to return the original OMR Sheet of Paper I & II together and Paper-III to the Invigilator before leaving the examination hall/room. However, candidates are allowed to carry the Test Booklets of Paper-I, II and III along with duplicate copy (carbon less copy) of OMR Sheet on conclusion of examination.   

There are no negative marks for incorrect answers.       The decision of the commission shall be final in all matters.      All legal disputes pertaining to this test shall fall within the jurisdiction of Delhi courts

only.

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of  the candidate.

It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. 60(sixty) multiple choice questions of 2 marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any 50(fifty).

In the event of the candidate attempting more than 50 questions, the first 50 questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

All the questions of Paper -II and Paper -III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).

The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet provided alongwith the test booklet.
