KID'sWhen fans weren’t watching the legends of golf, they were invited to see tennis stars Andy Roddick, Mark Phillippoussis, Jim Courier and James Blake compete on Sherwood’s tennis courts on Thursday, October 27 for the PowerShares QQQ Tennis Series as part of the free Community Champions Day. At the start of the day, the public was invited to compete against the pros, have lunch and partici-pate in a Question & Answer Session. When the real competition began in the af-ternoon, however, Andy Roddick was able to outlast Mark Philippoussis and take home the SoCal Honda Dealers Helpful Cup, the ninth in the series of 12 events.

In celebration of the PowerShares QQQ Championship “Buy Now, Give Back” ticket program. presentations were made to charities who received grants from the Sherwood Cares Foundation and the tournament hosted a golf clinic for youth. The tournament also provided daily pass tickets to the Sherwood Cares Foundation to distribute to those who might not otherwise be able to attend and welcomed youth under 18 with complimentary admission. Many of the charities that have received grants for the Sherwood Cares Foundation provided volunteers for the event. Off to a strong start, the PowerShares QQQ Championship hopes to have the same level of support from the fans, commu-nity and volunteers as they look ahead to 2017. Andy Roddick
