HOW TO APPLY THROUGH UCAS 2015
All full-time applicants to University Centre at Blackburn College need to apply through UCAS – the University and Colleges Admissions Service.
You will need to do this online – paper applications are not accepted.
Step by Step Guide to Applying through UCAS
Log onto www.ucas.com
Click on Apply or Track
Click on Apply for 2015 courses
Click on Register (you will only have to do this once)
Read welcome page and click next
Read and accept the Terms & Conditions
Follow the online instructions to register your personal details (make sure your name is how it appears on your exam entries and certificates to avoid any issues later)
Your mobile number and a sensible email address are useful to include as universities and UCAS increasingly use these to contact you
Security – choose a password, and answer 4 security questions
The system will automatically issue your username. Make a note of it now as it will not be displayed at a later stage
You will now receive an email from UCAS with an email verification code
Return to the Register / Log in to use Apply 2015 via Apply
Log in with your user name and password
Confirm how you are applying, as an individual or through your school/College.
‘As an individual’ means you will probably not be a current student and are applying independently.
‘Through your school/College’ means you are a current student, please check with your course tutor because you will require a buzzword to proceed applying this way.
Deadline Date: 15th January 2015
Please note: the earlier you fully complete your UCAS Form the better!* *If places are still available applications
will still be considered after this date
IMPORTANT:
If you are applying through a school/college you must enter the ‘Buzzword’ provided by them.
If you are a student at Blackburn College please speak to your tutor before applying.
Confirm whether you live outside the UK, and whether you are currently attending school/college
The system will automatically generate your Personal ID number (e.g. 123-456-7890)
Click on ‘Please click here’ to verify your email address
Enter the code given to you in the email from UCAS. This will verify your email address
Click to enter the Welcome page
Completing your application form
Work through each section listed on the left hand side of the screen
You must answer the questions marked with a red asterix
You can click on Help on the ? to the right of each question for a full explanation of the information required
Remember that the form doesn’t have to be completed all in one go. You can save at any point and come back to it at another time
To make any amendments or to continue entering details in a section you have yet to complete, click on the relevant section on the left hand side of the screen
References
Enter reference details in Apply and submit a request to your referee which is sent via email
The referee must then log-in to a secure site to complete the reference on behalf of the applicant. Once submitted, this reference will be attached to the application, and will not be visible to the applicant in Apply, nor will it be possible to make any further changes. Don’t forget to confirm with your tutor they have completed your reference.
When you are happy that all the details are correct, tick the section completed box at the bottom of each screen and click save. A red tick will then appear next to that section on the left hand side of the screen
