Ireland. The National InteUiyencrr says tlitre are evi-

dence* Jo the Irish journal* of increasing goodfeeling towards the English in that country. Theagricultural prospects of tbe country are also saidto be very promising. A Dublin paper says thewheat crop ia one of tbe best ever seen in In -

land; the yield is heavy, tbe quality good, aud ithat been gathered in excellent condition. Thepotato crop ia beyond danger, and was never\u25a0lore productive. Other vegetables are of sacbsuperior balk and quality that eveu the formersthemselves are satisfied, and have nothing to grom-ble at bat the fact that abundant crops bring lowprice*. Still, tbe prices of agricultural produceare highly remunerative; there is diminished tax-ation, lighter burthens, and more employment forall claaaei.

What a contrail does this picture present tothat of tbe aame country eleven years ago! Ireland, In tbe great famine year, seemed to havereached tbe lowest deep of her misery and sor-row. Her career Is now onward aud upward; and,at a moment when tho most sanguine of hereons had begun to despair, the ''gem of tbe seas"ia flaahingout new light, aud is destined uot onlyto aarpats It* original lustre, but become tbebrightest jewelin Britain's resplendent crown ofempire.

A Valuable Work. The Petersburg Jbrprstt announces that Chas

We neednot apeak of Mr. Cami-hell's exaltedqualificationstor the performance of the duty he proposes. Noon* io Virginiaor in the Sooth, is more eminentlyfitted for snch a work, which tke Jfjcjireis is safein predicting, will be one of rare value, and whichwe agree with it, should be iu the possession tfevery Virginian.
