Within the last few days the company began a new series of radio programs over WMOU and at the same time started a series of institutional ad- vertisements in The Berlin Reporter. Two Radio Shows Two different types of radio programs are being presented by the company, with the co- operation of employees. At the one o'clock spot on Sundays, which during the last few years has featured Brown Company from time to time, the company is present- ing a series which is dealing with many aspects of the com- pany. Included are the history of the company, discussions of its problems, reports of its financial situation, stories of the people who make up the company, explanations of company policies which affect the people in this area. Share Top Honors The Berlin Mills Railway and the Bermico Division have joined the Onco Plant in the select ranks of 100 per centers. Good Housekeeping inspec- tors said that during the two- week period ending February 18, those three divisions were as clean as clean could be. 100 Is Tops A mark of 100 is tops. Unless the manner of rating is shift- ed, these three units can not go any higher. These spic-and-span divi- sions had a number of others right on their heels in the race for the cleanest spots in the company. Employees of the Maintenance and Construc- tion Department were only a shade back at 99, while the people in three other divisions were given marks of 98 for the way they are keeping their houses clean. Only one plant slipped from the previous rating period, and that was nothing drastic. Three others remained the same. All the others climbed at least one point. Biggest jump was that by the Administrative Offices, (Continued on Page 2) Four Retire; Have Total Of 154 Years' Service Four veteran Brown Com- pany men retired recently after service which covered a total of 154 years. Two of those retiring began work with the company in 1909. They are Joseph De- Champlain, head watchman, and David Dupont, who work- ed in the Cascade Beater Room. Others retiring were Will- iam Fowler of the Berlin Mills Railway Car Shop, who joined the company in 1912, and Hen- ry Masse of the Burgess Dry- ers, who began work in 1916. Kimball Again Tops Office Men Ends Second Round With 100 Average Once again the name of Willard Kimball is at the top of men's averages in the Office Bowling League. Figures compiled by Joe Pickford of the Community Club up to the end of the sec- ond round give Willard an av- erage of 100. marked up in 51 strings. In the "Number Two spot is Bob Riva, who rolled 97 in 54 strings. Third spot goes to Bob Mur- phy, who hit 96 in 51 strir. - Twenty-eight bowlers had averages of 90 or better, with six of these hitting at least 95. These were the bowlers with 95's: Arthur Sullivan, in 57 strings; Billy Oleson, in 57 strings; Peter Ryan, in 30 strings. Only five bowlers were be- low 80. The awards were presented to open the company's new fleet safety program among members of the Transporta- tion Department and the Woods Department. Committee Formed .-- a part of the program, a three-man committee is being organized with represen- tatives from both departments and the safety engineer, Jack Rodgerson. Included on the list was one death. Meanwhile, employees were getting off to a bad start in the fourth period. A total of five lost-time accidents were marked up in the first week of this period. In an effort to meet the growing accident problems, su- pervisors will meet soon to dis- cuss a new safety program to be inaugurated by the com- pany. Details of this program will be announced in a forth- coming issue of The Brown Bulletin. Death resulted at Burgess Mill when a staging collapsed. Four veteran Brown Com-pany men retired recentlyafter service which covered atotal of 154 years.

Two of those retiring beganwork with the company in1909. They are Joseph De-Champlain, head watchman,and David Dupont, who work-ed in the Cascade BeaterRoom.

NOW IT'S "WRONG WRENCH JOE

Yes, it's "Wrong Wrench Joe." Joe is trying, without muchsuccess, to loosen a V4-mch cap screw with a 24-inch pipewrench. But that's not all. Look at the bench. Joe can banghis hands on a dozen objects cluttering up the place. And hedoesn't bother with the vise. More fun to try and hold the workwith his bare hands. As a result, both the work and some ofthe things on the bench could bounce to the floor — and toJoe's toes. But don't laugh. These things actually have beenseen in some of the shops!

Joe gets a bit of instruction from a man who knows how,Fred Marois, piper supervisor at Burgess Mill. Notice how Fredis using the proper wrench and is holding his work securely inthe vise. The bench is clear. All this cuts down the chance ofbanged knuckles or things being dropped on your toes. Inci-dentally, taking the time to show a man the right way goesa long way to help prevent accidents. And it also helps thefellow to do his work easier and better. Les Baldwin, superin-tendent of maintenance at Burgess, smiles his approval ofall this.

Many of us are inclined to

think of serving fish in a verylimited number of ways. How-ever, here are a few sugges-tions which might be helpfulto some of you, and it shouldbe easy to build, the rest ofyour menu around the mainfish dish.

Serve fish as soon as cooked,for that is when the flavor isat its best.

Garnish fish with cut lemon,water cress, parsley or slicedtomatoes.

WITH PAN-FRIED or broiledfish, serve with any of thesequick toppings:

ner in the Girls' Office League'ssecond round, as Holy Crossonce again ran out of breathin the stretch.

The turning point reallycame when the two teams metthe other evening. Holy Crosshad a slight edge going intothe tilt. But by the time thedust had cleared, Cornell hadtaken four points and a twoand one-half point lead.

That was the whole story.Cornell put it away last week.

Meanwhile, the men weredeciding round winners. InDivision A, the Seamen put ona fast finish to win, while inDivision B, the Commanderscame from behind to clinchthe title.

Things remained breathtak-ing in the Mill League. River-side No. 2 still clung to the toprung, but the race was just astight as ever.

As of the end of the month,the leaders had a slim one-half point margin over theirfellow Riversiders, just as wasthe case two weeks before.

Eight teams were bunchedwithin less than four pointsof one another.

Riverside No. 2 might havegone further into the lead ifit had not run into a stumbl-ing block in the form ofBleachery No. 2. The Burgessclub took four.

Individually, there was somegood trawling. Among~tlmiren""with 300's were Clarence Rand,315; Willard Kimball, 309;Rollie Fickett, 309, and JoeMarkovich, 306.

Mill bowlers in the threecentury class were Bob Trav-ers, 312; Dan Theriault, 306,and Ralph Webb, 305.

Your best bet when it comesto buying fish is to know whatyou're buying. If you are indoubt, ask questions from yourgrocer or fishman. Since mostof us have to keep in mind thefact that we have to allot our-selves just so much time inwhich to get a meal ready, wewould profit by buying fillets,steaks or dressed whole fish,either fresh or frozen.

Last but not least, here's aneasy way to remove fish odorsfrom serving dishes and cook-ing utensils: First rinse themin a solution of hot water anda few drops of household am-monia. Then, wash as usual.Nothing to it, now is there?
