  • Event AdDescription: Event ad flier created only using Microsoft Word.

    Date: 5/16/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Microsoft Word

Objectives: Design an event ad advertising an event for charity displaying good design principles using Microsoft Word only. Process: For my design I decided to align my font at the bottom of the image and make only a couple words much bigger font size than the rest. I used the insert textbox option to make sure the text was over the image and changed the fill and outline to none. I wanted to keep the design simple yet easy to read. For this rea-son I created a hierarchy system to help the text flow. I did not want to use font that was loud or too crazy because I wanted to convey a simple yet powerful message.

  • Web PageDescription: Customized web page display-ing a potential snowboarding website logo and the process of creating the logo.

    Date: 6/27/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe Illustrator, HTML/CSS Edi-tor

Objectives: Design a customized web page with appealing colors that match the designed logo and explain the process of creating the logo.

Process: Using html and CSS I created this web page with a basic layout for a foundation. I decided to align my logo in the center and put all the text below it. I wanted to create the col-ors of the website to go along with the logo so I used the eyedropper tool in Photoshop to get the right colors. I separated my content into more list items and decided that these fonts complimented each other well.

  • PhotodesignDescription: Using Adobe Photoshop I created this design using a color scheme and a photo I took on the way to Utah which I later edited.

    Date: 5/23/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives: Take a photo and enhance and edit it in photoshop and create a design with a quote.

Process: For this design my plan was to help colors flow and add to the effect of the pho-to. I used the gradient tool to make the black to white fade down the center. I added more vibrance and saturation in the photo to bring out more of the teal look. I used the sharpness tool to clean some of the mountains and car. I decided to use the monochrome color setting because of how the picture looks.

  • BrochureDescription: Brochure displaying potential car customizing company called GForce.

    Date: 7/11/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Objectives: Utilize all design principles learned to this point and create a visually appealing brochure that advertises or displays something.

Process: Using Adobe Illustrator I created the GForce logo used in the brochure design. I used the rotate tool to create the speedometer and aligned it with the red border. Using Ado-be Photoshop I trimmed the image on the cover so that the text could wrap near the wheel. Us-ing Adobe InDesign I created the design of the brochure.

  • MontageDescription: Using Adobe Photoshop, I used three different images to create a montage by blending the images together and adding text.

    Date: 5/31/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives: Create a spiritually uplifting message using atleast 3 different images.

Process: During the process of creating my montage, I imported three different images and cropped them using the lasso into my main background. I positioned them where I want-ed and blended them with the brush tool after masking them. I blended the edges so that they went into the background better and tried to make everything flow. I added text layers and decided to keep the font and color simple.

  • LogosDescription: Using Adobe Illustrator I drew three different logos after sketching them out on paper and implemented different designs and color schemes.

    Date: 6/5/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe Illustrator

Objectives: Create a logo that is memorable and follows proper design principles

Process: During the process of creating these logos I used many different features of the Adobe software to help me. I first found a font that I liked and created the snowboard using lines and adjusting anchor points. I wanted to create a design that was obviously a snow-board company and people could see that right off the bat. Using the grid tool, I was able to create the bottom logo with the lines.

  • event FlierDescription: I used Adobe InDesign to create this flier after following a sketch I drew.

    Date: 5/9/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe InDesign

Objectives: Create a visually appealing flier design with a targeted audience.

Process: While designing the flier, I first set lines to make sure to keep shapes and text aligned before placing everything. When I be-gan adding the text, I made sure to use fonts that work together and dont detract from the message. I kept in mind my audience and tried to implement that in the look of the flier. I didnt want to create to loud or too crazy of a design so I kept it simple and as clean as possi-ble.

  • LetterheadDescription: Using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, I created this letterhead for my brother in laws company.

    Date: 6/13/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe InDesign and Illustrator

Objectives: Create a letterhead that displays the company logo nicely and

Process: For the letterhead I kept it simple and put the logo on the left and the words on the right for better visibility. I aligned the text and logo to keep neatness. I wanted to leave plenty of whitespace and I kept the opacity of the large logo on the right bottom corner at a higher percent as to keep the feel of a good letterhead.

  • Business cardDescription: Using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, I created a business card for my brother in laws company.

    Date: 6/13/2015

Course/Instructor: COMM 130 Cory Kerr Programs: Adobe Indesign and Illustrator

Objectives: Create a business card with specified dimensions that uses a logo I created and display name and contact information on the card while making a professional looking design.

Process: I first created the logo in Illustrator and used the pen tool to create the letters. I used the line tool to fix them and decided to give them a semi-large stroke. I made them round and changed the colors and aligned the text with the letters. I imported my logo in InDesign and began work on the business card by creating 3 sections.
