LIST OF OPERATIONS FOR THE TRADE OF TYRE REPAIRER
UNDER APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING SCHEEME
PERIOD OF TRAINING: - SIX MONTHS
BASIC TRAINING: - (ONE WEEK)
1 Familiarization with the organization. Importance of the
trade. Familiarization with the safety equipment available in the
shop, And their uses. Observing Safety in Tyre Repairer Shop.
TRADE PRACTICAL:-
1. Familiarization with tools and machines available in the
Workshop.- Their use and upkeep
Importance of maintenance and cleanliness of Workshop tools and
machineries etc.
2. Familiarization with different sizes, makes and kinds of
tyres. Familiarization with the
Names of different portions of a tyre.
3. Removing and refitting of wheels and tyres. Checking of
tyres, Removing tube, Checking for any leakage and repairing.
Inflating tyres at correct pressure.
4. Repairing tyres by patching inspecting tyres to determine the
extent of defect, Preparing tyre surface around crack for patching,
cementing gum and rubber patch To defective area rolling down patch
with hand stitcher, removing trapped air from Patch, buffing and
trimming excess rubber from tyre.
5. Rertreading tyres by hot press- inspecting tyres for
retreading , Preparing tyre surface for retreading, applying
solution, selecting the moulds, Applying tread rubber and
retreading tyres by hot retreading process.
6. Retrading tyres by cold process Preparing tyre surface for
retreading, Applying solution, applying rubber and retreading tyres
by cold process.
7. Diagnosing the causes for improper retrading and rectifying
the defects.
8. Revision and test.
