Brief 4: Typographic Animation

Use a voice record-ing and script of some song lyrics to derive ideas for a short digital anima-tion in After Ef-fects.

The voice record-ing will provide you with a structure for the animation, which should use only typographic forms.

Your animation must also include sound design, that either reflects the feel of the lyrics, or what is described in the lyrics, or both.

Please upload two versions of your work, one version with the lyrics re-cording left in, and one version with it removed (leaving only sound design and animation).

For this project i decided to use the lyrics from an unreleased strokes song called, “i’ll try anything once”. I decided to do it on the first verse as this seemed to present more inter-esting ideas in the words of the song. Ater story boarding the project i started constructing the animation in After effects. I tried to keep a flow going through it as much

as possible as other typographic anima-tions which had researched seemed to work best when they a constant flow to them. I decided i would use a pre-dominatley black and white colour scheme, keeping colour use to mini-mum. This way i thought it would make the anima-tion less messy while still leaving room to use colour as a way of high-lighting certain words.
