Configuration interfaceLocal communication with the DinBox RTU for configuration, set-up and monitoring is done via a serial “configuration interface”. This RS-232 interface (RJ-45) can be connected to a computer or similar device via a RJ-45 to DB-9 serial cable. Only RxD, TxD and DTR are used (LED's). If DTR is active the LED DTR will illuminate. A terminal software program (eg. HyperTerminal) must be used to communicate with the micro-RTU. The DinBox RTU can be in configuration mode or running mode (LED 1 or 2).

DinBox RTU communication protocols

ASCII protocol NMKD-3085 (communication with ABB Scada system over GPRS)IEC 60870-5-104 TCP/IP communication protocol

DinBox RTU applications

Information coming from analog inputs (AI) and digital inputs (DI) can be transferred to a host system via TCP Socket (GPRS) or via SMS. When the micro-RTU communicates over SMS or GPRS the measured data are presented as ASCII messages in a AI or DI Telegram Format. In case of communication with a Scada system we either use the dedicated NMKD-3085 ASCII communication protocol, developed by ABB Sweden, or the IEC 60870-5-104 communication protocol (gas & oil industry). Bausch Datacom also developed SMS and Socket servers to collect the data telegrams sent from the DinBox RTU. The DinBox RTU is 100% developed from scratch by Bausch Datacom: we can (and will) create specific firmware for your specific application ! There are 2 major applications:

° Application software: embedded in Atmel AVR processor ° Menu structure with configurable parameters : GPRS and TCP/IP server parameters (Wavecom GPRS module) and DinBox RTU specific parameters such as Source Adress, Identification Id's, Date and Time, SMS Phone Numbers, AI info TX period, DI report hour etc...° AI and DI Telegrams are sent in a TCP/IP socket over a GPRS link to a socket server or to a Scada system. For communication with a Scada system the dedicated NMKD-3085 ASCII communication protocol is used or the IEC 60870-5-104 communication protocol.

GPRS communication with Scada

SMS communication with SMS server The DinBox RTU has 16 digital inputs. Each DI (1 to 16) has it's own configuration with 3 possible options: Alarm, Information and Signalisation. Each of the 3 options has its specific parameters to set. In general the DinBox RTU can send a single DI or a group DI or a group AI message by SMS. It also receives and handles programmed messages by SMS (for example to acknowledge or when a status report of the RTU is needed.Bausch Datacom developed a SMS server to collect the data telegrams sent by the micro-RTU.
