The initial research indicated that ease of use in a text editor was of high importance for users. This informed a series of paper prototype iterations to refine the design. Digital prototyping was also used to provide an impression of the application in actual use. The application itself is developed using HTML, CSS, jQuery and uses a material design library based on Googles Material Design Language. The application is hosted in the browser and it allows the user to create documents where the page elements such as titles and paragraphs, are injected into the document using jQuery. These elements are pre-defined in CSS and any newly created content will take on this pre-defined styling.

Overall testing showed that users were happy to use the application as it allowed them to quickly create properly formatted documents. User testing conducted towards the end of the project provided feedback on the application’s ability to save content. This was addressed in the application through localstorage and “save to file” functionality.
