Green has been throwing his weightaroundagain, thistimetryingto get road crews to work on his block, beyond the scope of their assigned tasks.YoumightrememberGreenasthe Councilman that attempted to have the Comal CountyFairAssociationsfairgroundslease revoked as retaliation for Fair staff declining to allow Green to park in a restricted area, and his obligatory charges of racism on the part of Fair staff that followed. Thats not the only time hes done something like that, only our favorite. In short, the Councilman has a long history of demanding special treatment aroundtown, whichhasonlygottenworse since he took offce. At the July 13 Council meeting, George stepped down from the dais, and took center stage at the podium, in full concerned-public-servant mode, to explain to Council that part ofLomaVistastreet, thesectionbetween BeckerandI-35,wassupposedtohave beenapprovedbyCouncilforrepairwith therestofLomaVista, buthadnot.Green took two conficting tacks to make his point. The frst was that it was overlooked, and the other was that, in retrospect, itshould have beenincluded, asevidencedbythisquote: Its like building a home. You can start out with all the features you select and pick and somehow or another by the time you get to a certain stage of that home build that, hey, something has been left out. According to Green, it was negligence inplanningonthepartofCityStaff, and negligenceinvotingonthepartofthe Councilhesitson,ANDnotnegligenceat all, but rather a need that revealed itself after thefactandnowneedstobeaddressed. Councilman Green, like so many otheramateurthinkers, talksin circlesandputsforthmultiple argumentsatonce, hoping thatonewillstickandthe balancebedisregarded. Its like hes never read this column.TheItshouldhavebeenin theoriginalstreetplanassertionwas rebuffed by District Six rep Leah Garcia, who said:Wevoted, though, backinFebruary afterwereviewedthisinthefall, andthat was all that was included was a portion of it, not the whole street. And Im really familiar withthisstreet, andtheotherendofitthat didnthasahigher(streetcondition)rating and is in a lot better shape than the part they redid. So, you know, I could see maybe with the budgets going forth, but we all voted for the same thing. And it was in there in black and white at the time.Green responded with this: Its just like buildingahome.Imean, notuntilyouget to a certain point, and I caught it while they were out working the streetsGarcia:Butyoushouldhavecaughtit when we voted on it. We could have talked about it then.Green:Again, ifyouvebeenina building process, there are a lot of eyes that havebeenonthedocumentsthateveryone has signed off on, but theres still things that are overlooked and I think this is one that has beenoverlooked, becauseagain, itshould havebeentheentirestreetofLomaVista because it doesnt serve the entire purpose of what we were trying to do.According to Green, it was originally partofthetotalroadplanapprovedby Council earlier, and the fact that it actually wasnt, was a mistake. The fact is, Green doesntreadtheagendapacketsbefore hevotes.Hejustblameseveryoneelse when it doesnt say what he thought it did. Or should have. Continued on page 5. The event is, as Larry notes, boobies only. There are no guys allowed, he said. The girls can come in to learn about breast cancer and how to examine their breasts, without the guys around.
