ABOUT THE LINGAYA’S UNIVERSITY
The Lingaya’s University (erstwhile Lingaya's Institute of Man-agement and Technology), Faridabad, was established in 1998 under the aegis of "Lingaya's Jankalyan ShikshanSanstha" - established in the memory of the freedom fighter late Shri GaddeLingaya who sacrificed his whole life to free his mother land India from the shackles of conventionalism, illiteracy and poverty. Lingaya's University Society, as it is known today, is inspired by the strength of such freedom fighters. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The advancement of ICT and Digital Technologies provides an effective medium for students, re-searcher and teaching professionals to reach out to the users as never before. The School of Com-puter Science and Engineering at Lingaya`s Uni-versity`s, Faridabad is organizing two days work-shop on Patents & IPR for students, researcher and teaching professionals. Intellectual property (IP) is a right which refers to an exclusive owner-ship on varieties of intangible assets, such as designs, discoveries, inventions, etc. recognized under the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) law. Under the TRIPS agreement, some of the most common types of intellectual property rights are copyright, trademarks, patents and industrial de-sign, etc. Intellectual property is desirable be-cause it encourages innovation.
This workshop would focus on Protecting techni-cal innovation, Using patent information, IP Law, IP, R&D and knowledge transfer and IP for com-puter sciences. This two days long workshop will include a series of lectures by eminent experts in this field followed by a session for demonstration on patent filing. Experts will also guide the partici-pants to file patent applications for their innovation work. Hence, the workshop is designed to equip the faculty and research scholars with the knowl-edge about the facts related to Patent &Intellectual Property Rights.
The objectives of the Workshop / Key Highlights
There is a need to make researchers understand the Usages of patent information, IP Law, impor-tance of IPR and Protecting technical innovation/using patents and patent information for R&D.. The workshop will focus to create awareness on different aspects of Patent and Intellectual Prop-erty Rights Through this workshop the participants will be able to have a better understanding of the follow-ing issues/concepts.
