Protagonist = Tyler
Tyler is the Protagonist in Twisted. He was once a nerdy kid but after working hard all summer he became muscly.
Antagonist
Bethany the girl of Tyler’s dreams is the antagonist in twisted. In the beginning Tyler only cares about getting her attention. Until later when things go wrong
Favorite Character
• My favorite character is yoda. He is obsessed with Starwars and has been Tylers best friend for years. Yoda is obsessed with Tylers little sister.
Least Favorite Character
• My least favorite character would be Bethany. She thinks she is all great because she is pretty and her parents have money. When really she is spoiled and immature
Rising Action
• The main rising action is when everyone returns to school after summer break. Everyone meets the new Tyler and even Bethany falls for tyler
Exposition
• The exposition in the story is when your learning about Tyler and his past.
Climax
• The climax in the story takes place during the big party where Bethany gets drunk and tries to hook up with Tyler but he turns her down trying to be a hero. Instead everything backfires.
Falling Action
• The falling action takes place after Tyler is accused of taking the photos of Bethany. The cops are involved and he almost gets kicked out of school
Resolution
• Everything settles down towards the end of the book when the people who actually took the photos are found, Tyler throws out his dads gun, and the family becomes one again.
Setting
• The setting takes place in modern times. The main locations are: school, Tyler’s house, and Bethany’s house.
Theme
• The themes in the story are
• Family• Love• Hate• Desire
Rating
• On a scale of one to ten I rate this book as a seven. Its not bad and it kept me somewhat hooked.
Social Issues
• Emotional Child Abuse• Teen Suicide• Teen Drinking
Emotional Child Abuse
There are many forms of emotional
child abuse. Coldness ignoring
harassment Isolation Rejection terrorizing
Types of abuse
• Ignoring happens when the parents don’t pay attention to the child
• Harassment scares children and repeated exposure to fear can alter the child not only mentally but physically
• Coldness happens when the parents don’t show the love and warmness towards their children
Child Abuse Cont.
• When most people think of child abuse they think physical. However emotional child abuse is far more common.
Teen Suicide
Suicide is a major issue that all countries deal with today
Suicides among young people continue to be a serious problem. Each year in the U.S., thousands of teenagers commit suicide. Suicide is the third
leading cause of death for 15-to-24-year-olds, and the sixth leading cause of death for 5-to-14-year-
olds.
^Things to watch out for^
• change in eating and sleeping habits • withdrawal from friends, family, and regular activities • violent actions, rebellious behavior, or running away • drug and alcohol use • unusual neglect of personal appearance • marked personality change • persistent boredom, difficulty concentrating, or a decline in the quality of
schoolwork • frequent complaints about physical symptoms, often related to emotions,
such as stomachaches, headaches, fatigue, etc. • loss of interest in pleasurable activities • not tolerating praise or rewards
If a child or adolescent says, I want to kill myself, or I'm going to commit suicide, always take
the statement seriously and immediately seek assistance
from a qualified mental health professional.
Teen Drinking
My final social issue from “Twisted” is teen drinking.
Teen Drinking Facts
• Every day an average of 11,318 teens try alcohol for the first time.
• Underage drinkers account for 11.4% of all alcohol consumed in the U.S.
• Americans drink the heaviest in their teens to mid-twenties
• Three out of four high school seniors have consumed alcohol by the time they graduate.
• More than half of high school seniors report being drunk at least once.
