PRIMER PASO EN NUESTRO PROCESO COLABORATIVO La Parroquia San Benito comenzará a funcionar como una colaboración para Discípulos en Mision el 1ro de junio de 2020. En este punto estamos en la etapa 8 del proceso. El domingo, 6 octubre de 4pm– 7pm en el hall de la escuela tendremos el primer taller de Discípulos en Misión como preparación para cuando San Benito sea colaboración. Cada persona que de algún servicio dentro de la parroquia esta llamado a tomar este taller. Como colaboración, eventualmen-te escribiremos un plan para la evangelización en nuestra parroquia. Sigamos orando por nuestra parroquia para que sigamos abiertos a la obra del Espíritu Santo entre nosotros.

FIRST STEP IN OUR COLLABORATIVE PROCESS St. Benedict Parish will begin to func3on as a collabora3ve for Disciples in Mission on June 1, 2020. At this point we are at stage 8 of the process. On Sunday, October 6, from 4pm-7pm at the school cafeteria, we will have the first workshop of Disciples In Mission as a prepara3on for collabora3on. Everyone is encouraged to aRend. As a collabora3ve, at the final stage we will write a plan for evangeliza-3on in our parish. Let’s keep praying for our parish so we con3nue to be open to the work of the Holy Spirit in our midst.

Twenty-sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time
The Rich Man in today’s gospel never no3ced Lazarus. Instead, he accepted him as part of the landscape thinking it perfectly natural and inevitable that Lazarus should lie in pain and hunger while he lived luxuriously. The sin of the Rich Man was that he looked on the world's suffering and need but felt no compassion or pity in his heart. This parable challenges us to reflect on our own complacency and reasons for ignoring the sufferings of others. Only with Christ can we overcome such feelings and respond as his disciples!

El hombre rico en el Evangelio de hoy nunca le presto atención a Lázaro. De hecho lo veía como parte del panorama, pensando que era perfectamente natural e inevitable que Lázaro sufriera dolor y hambre mientras que él vivía una vida de lujos. El pecado del hombre rico fue que vio a los necesitados y sufrientes del mundo pero nunca sin3ó compasión o piedad en su corazón. Esta parábola nos invita a reflexionar sobre nuestra propia comodidad y razones para ignorar los sufrimientos de otros. Sólo con Cristo podemos vencer tales sen3mientos y responder como sus discípulos.

WITNESS TO LIFE PILGRIMAGE Save the date for the Witness to Life pilgrimage to Washington, DC. January 23-25, 2020. This is a great opportunity for parish groups to go on pilgrimage together and pray and March for Life!
In September 1961 towards the end of the second month of pregnancy, she was touched by suffering and the mystery of pain; she had developed a fibroma in her uterus. Before the required surgical opera3on, and conscious of the risk that her con3nued pregnancy brought, she pleaded with the surgeon to save the life of the child she was carrying, and entrusted herself to prayer and Providence. The life was saved, for which she thanked the Lord. She spent the seven months remaining un3l the birth of the child in incomparable strength of spirit and unrelen3ng dedica3on to her tasks as mother and doctor. A few days before the child was due, although trus3ng as always in Providence, she was ready to give her life in order to save that of her child: “If you must decided between me and the child, do not hesitate: choose the child - I insist on it. Save him”. On the morning of April 21, 1962, Gianna Emanuela was born. Despite all efforts and treatments to save both of them, on the morning of April 28, amid unspeakable pain and a]er repeated exclama-3ons of “Jesus, I love you. Jesus, I love you», the mother died. She was 39 years old.

En sep3embre de 1961, al cumplirse el segundo mes de embarazo, es presa del sufrimiento. El diagnós3co: un tu-mor en el útero. Se hace necesaria una intervención quirúrgica. Antes de ser intervenida, suplica al cirujano que salve, a toda costa, la vida que lleva en su seno, y se con_a a la oración y a la Providencia. Se salva la vida de la criatura. Ella da gracias al Señor y pasa los siete meses antes del parto con incomparable fuerza de ánimo y con plena dedicación a sus deberes de madre y de médico. Algunos días antes del parto, confiando siempre en la Providencia, está dispuesta a dar su vida para salvar la de la criatura: «Si hay que decidir entre mi vida y la del niño, no dudéis; elegid -lo exijo- la suya. Salvadlo». La mañana del 21 de abril de 1962 da a luz a Gianna Emanuela. El día 28 de abril, también por la mañana, entre indecibles dolores y repi3endo la jaculatoria «Jesús, te amo; Jesús, te amo», muere santamente. Tenía 39 años.

118. La segunda verdad es que Cristo, por amor, se entregó hasta el final para salvarte. Sus brazos abiertos en la Cruz son el signo más precioso de un amigo capaz de llegar hasta el ex-tremo: «Él, que amó a los suyos que estaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el fin» (Jn 13,1). San Pablo decía que él vivía confiado en ese amor que lo entregó todo: «Vivo de la fe en el Hijo de Dios, que me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí» (Ga 2,20).
