ParIsh state Fy 2018-19Finance report 2018-19Income FY 2018-19: Collections $691k, under budget 47k (-6.4%) / Rental property $669k, up by 14k (+2k) / Total income: $2,136k due to bequest received (+40%) / Net Ordinary Income $100k.

Expenses FY 2018-19: Salaries and benefits $800K, under budget $103k (-21.4%) / Administration $121k, under $21 (-15%) / Plant & Facilities $165k, under by $28k (-20%) / Parish Programs $59k, under by $47k (-44%).

Balance net cash basis 6/30/2019 = $555k.

The parish was able to save money from changes in the expense in administration as the pastor took over of the parish business management. There was a significant reduction in expenses related to termination of unnecessary subscriptions that reported savings to the parish. There is a significant difference in ‘parish programs’ as it was related to the Youth Ministry after the Youth Minister quit in December, 2018. The parish tried to manage the youth ministry, assigning a parochial vicar to run the program. This year the parish has a lay Youth Minister, and we are working on making this ministry get back on its feet.

There is a significant increase in the income due to a bequest. Without this bequest we would be $47k under budget as collection income continues its trend to drop.

The savings generated from salary savings and termination of unnecessary subscriptions was reinvested in the parish buildings and maintenance of our 3 sites without having to use money from our savings. Some projects completed thanks to these savings are: ISTP playground asphalt renovation ($14k). Homer house new sewer line inspection and installation (9k). ISTP roof structural inspection ($8.5k). SAG sacristy and hospitality center floor replacement (22k). Rectory internal doors replacement ($3.6k). Other projects were completed thanks to this savings as well without using from our savings or the special bequest.

Thanks to 2 special bequests received over the years the parish was able to renovate: 1) the 100+ yr old church stairs and porch (STA site). 2) ISTP school's flat roof (OLR site). 3) Rectory second floor windows replacement (SAG site). (Continued on next page)

ParIsh state Fy 2018-19 (cont.)The parish successfully resumed the English Youth Confirmation class which is now run by Carmel Caligaris who generously offered her services as a volunteer. We currently have 20 teens enrolled. Our high school Ministry now has a youth minister, but we are still working hard to make this grow. Many new parish activities were started strengthening the parish community life. The Hispanic ministry continues to be run mostly by volunteers and its programs continue to be very active and enrollment numbers are very consistent. Thank you all for your great support to our parish with your time, talent and treasure. May God bless you for your generosity. Fr. Mikalonis, Pastor

Estanislao will invite us to reflect on how to live our vocation to holiness and mission to spread the Word of God in our world. The day will be broken into 3x 20/25 minutes reflections. Some time for prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament or breaking in smaller groups to share our thoughts. The retreat will wrap up around 3 pm. Coffee and refreshments will be offered by the parish. We hope to see all of you as we get together to pray and reflect on our spiri-tual life.

FrancIsco JIMénez - seton school - oct 30Professor Francisco Jiménez, emigrated with his family from Tlaquepaque, Mexico to California and as a child worked alongside his parents in the fields of California. With no English and a fear of being sent back to Mexico, his books beautifully unfold his inspiring and thought-provoking journey. Although the stories in his book are set in the 1940s and 1950s, many of the issues are still relevant today.

Francisco is currently a professor at Santa Clara University. His son Miguel Jiménez will interview him on stage in the school’s auditorium.

The evening will begin at 6:00PM with a welcoming wine reception to include heavy hors d’oeuvres and an opportunity to take a student-led tour of the school, to be followed at 7:00PM by a conversation on stage with Francisco Jimenez.

Tickets are available at https://www.brownpapertick-ets.com/event/4332873 or www.setonpaloalto.org.

Paper Tickets: Please mail a check to "St. Elizabeth Seton School". Your tickets will be held at Will Call. Please call Carmel if you have any questions: (650) 326-1258.
