• The Codex Manesse or Heiderberger Liederhandschrift is an illuminated manuscript copied in Zurich between 1305-1344 containing love songs by German troubadors (Minnesänger). Each of the 137 poets is portrayed as an idealized knight. The Codex Manesse is a picture book for fin amour and early fourteenth-century conceptions of courtliness
