INTRODUCTION

The FAA and other regulatory agencies and good practice, require that the registered owner or operator of an aircraft keep separate, permanent and current records on his engine(s) . Each General Electric engine shipped from the factory is accompanied by an engine service records logbook for this purpose. Tforservicerecordsooolrisl:iivided into seven sectiuns-:

SECTION I - Data Sheet

This section lists the important engine performance parameters actuarly measured upon the final acceptance test cell run at the factory prior to Shipment.

SECTION II · Service Bulletin Compliance

This section contains pages suitable for maintaining records of compliance with General Electric's recommended Service Bulletins.

SECTION 111 · Lite Limited, Major Component Part Record

This section contains a listing of parts that are time/cyclic controlled. Within this listing are certain parts which are life-limited. The part number and serial number of each of these parts installed in new engines has been entered in this section at the factory. The capability of an engine to complete any maintenance or inspection interval is a function of the life remaining in the life-limit'ed parts installed in the engine. Therefore, during subsequent maintenance action ie, overhaul, repair or modification, if any of these parts are replaced appropriate entries must be made in this section. Life-limited parts are limited by hours and/or cycles in order that they may be identified and removed from service prior to a failure that cannot be predicted by an inspection process. Limits are published In the engine manufacturer's Service Bulletin publications CF34 72· 1 and CF34 72·2 and may be amended from time to time as experience dictates.

SECTION IV · Accessory Gearbox & PTO Bearing Record

This section is for the repair and maintenance of t.he Accessory Gearbox parts ie. bearings, gears etc. Any seriali~ed part can be recorded and its TSN/TSO entered so that the part life of these items can be tracked and their full life completed.

SECTION V · Engine Location

The section entitled "Engine Location" provides SPace for recording changes in the installation of the engine.

SECTION VI - Engine Service Record

This section contains several pages for recording engine hours, cycles. and maintenance actions. Entries must be made in this section in a timely and accurate manner as this section serves as a basis for subsequent maintenance decisions. Periodic entries must be made on aircraft equipped with automatic counters to preclude possibility of data loss due to equipment malfunction.

In summary, General Electric supplies an engine service records logbook with each engine. A list of all the time controlled parts with part numbers and serial numbers for the engine is included in the book. It is the operators responsibility to ensure that the logbooks are kept current and accurate. When subsequent maintenance action is conducted the operator must ensure that the proper entries are made. Do not offer or accept an engine in trade, sale or exchange without adequate, accurate engine reocrdsl
