JFM Standard TunnelsJ F McKenna Ltd is at the forefront of change and

innovation within the mushroom industry in Ireland,

UK and throughout the World.

As Master Distributors of Fancom Control

Equipment, we deliver tomorrow’s technology

today. The combination of low cost Irish mushroom

growing tunnels and Fancom’s highly developed

control technology has enabled us to enjoy a

distinguished reputation worldwide.

At our Engineering Department we use the latest

CAD systems to design and manufacture a range of

Standard Tunnels suitable for any mushroom farm,

producing 7m and 9m wide frames incorporating

straight sides for improved access & air circulation.

7m wide tunnels are primarily used for shelf

growing, where the tall, narrow prole is suitable

for two rows of shelving (up to 6 tiers high) with

practical pathways.

9m wide tunnels are primarily used for bag, block

growing – where the wider prole is suitable for

setting bags on the oor and/or on racks.

DoorsDoors are designed to allow access for machinery. The doors

can be made to suit access for shelving machinery, forklift truck

or similar machines. Personnel access can be incorporated

into the Filling and Emptying end off the tunnel. Doors are made

using insulated galvanized panels or coloured panel nish.

Personnel doors are available in standard size 1m wide x 2m High or various sizes. Personnel Doors

are made using insulated panels and are available in a galvanized nish or coloured panel nish.

Example of a 7M Standard Tunnel

All structures incorporate large diameter galvanized tubular steel frames. Tunnels are insulated

using a highly effective low density glass mineral wool quit (bre glass) which is made especially to

suit our structures. Applied in layers for maximum effect, the total heat loss through a 180mm (7”)

thick insulated roof on a standard 9mx33m (30’x110’) growing room across a 20°C temperature

difference is only 2,105 Watts. Standard polythene covers are used for the inner (White) and Outer

(Green). Standard houses use tanalith treated timber end frames & base rails, with the option of

steel end frames and aluminium base rails. Tunnels can be free-standing, or built against a servicecorridor.
