How to make a.... Tulle Wedding Dress Card

Step 1. This workshop will show you how to make a wedding dress card using the heart shape die as the main focal bodice and the tulle & pearl corners will create the dress. For this project you`ll need the Sue Wilson noble collection ~ pierced rectangle die set, the Couture Creations floral lace collection ~ love abounds die. Also needed is the Creative Expressions pearl topped stick pins along with 2 faceted amethyst teardrop beads & 2 frosted amethyst faceted teardrop beads and 4 spacer beads or pearls. Other products are the Creative Expressions silver tulle & the Cosmic Shimmer lapis pearl embossing powder.

Step 2. Secure the Couture Creations floral lace collection ~ love abounds die onto a piece of Foundations coconut card.

Step 3. Place a piece of thin card just covering the size of the die as this will give added pressure to the die when it`s cut.

Step 4. Run the piece through the Grand Calibur machine. As you can see this intricate die was cut fully in one pass. So it`s worth that piece of thin card as it just grips the die when passing through the machine creating the extra pressure often needed.

Step 5. Press the clear and resist ink pad over the front of the heart shape or use Perfect Medium.

Step 6. Tip the Cosmic Shimmer lapis pearl embossing powder over the ink & tip away the excess powder back into it`s pot.

Step 7. Heat set the embossing powder using a heat tool.

Step 8. Whilst the piece is still warm curve the heart shape so each side is curved backwards and leave the piece to cool. This will just stop it twisting whilst cooling.

Step 9. Cut a piece of self adhesive sheet through the die cutting machine using the heart die. Make sure the piece is in the centre of the embossing plate and that no extra pieces of card are used over the top as the adhesive sheet will always resist being cut which is perfect for this step as you want to keep all the intricate pieces still within the heart shape.

Step 10. Use the tips of a pair of decoupage snips or a Spellbinders all in one tool to pick the small pieces off the sheet as this will leave the solid sticky sheet below.

Step 11. Attach the embossed die cut heart over the sticky side of the sheet. You can see there might be the odd piece that gets cut but just use a small piece of double sided tape on the back of the heart once the backing has been removed.

Step 12. Remove the backing before adding the tape to cover the hole.

Step 13. Tip over the Tim Holtz distress glitter rock candy and press the glitter onto the sticky sheet.

Step 14. Now you will have a lovely glisten to the bodice area of the wedding dress.

Step 15. As you will need to attach the tulle to the back of the dress then a heart shape has been just embossed on a piece of white card.

Step 16. Snip around the outside of the heart shape which will be easy as there is an embossed edging to follow the scissors in.

Step 17 . Stick the card to the reverse of the bodice piece & curve the bodice again to make sure the shape is kept.

Step 18. Lay a 3 inch piece of thick double sided tape on your work surface. Remove half of the backing lengthways.

Step 19. Ruffle a piece of tulle which has been cut to 14 inches x 6 inches beforehand.

Step 20. Lay another piece of tape over the top of the tulle to secure the tulle in place.

Step 21. Remove the backing off the top piece of double sided tape and place the centre of the tape / tulle behind the tip of the embossed heart panel.

Step 22. Lift and stick the remaining tape either side of the centre so it lays higher up the heart on the reverse side of the heart. This will create a lovely full skirt of tulle under the heart.

Step 23. Either use a length of the pearl adhesive strips or as I have done add the pearl corners to the tulle.

Step 24. Add the corner pearl along the bottom edge of the tulle placing one with the point upwards and then with the next corner facing downwards. Start placing the corners from the centre of the hem base and space the corners out nicely so they fit evenly across the hem.

Step 25. Add some clear and resist ink to the non raised inside flap of the Creative Expressions texture linen embossing folder. Please a piece of pearl white card in the embossing folder (without moving the card once it`s in place) & run it through the Grand Calibur machine using the Spellbinder raspberry plate when using the embossing sandwich. Step 26. Tip the Cosmic Shimmer lapis pearl embossing powder over the resist ink whilst it`s tacky.

Step 27. Heat set the card to reveal the wonderful shimmer on the card.

Step 28. Trim the card to 7 7/8” square before securing the solid cut rectangle frame, the inner intricate cut die and then the solid inner die to the card with low tack tape.

Step 29. Now you will have a thinner border, an intricate border and a solid inner die shape along with the aperture needed for the project.

Step 30. Emboss a piece of vellum using the Sue Wilson floral brocade pinpoint embossing folder. This will go behind the just cut aperture.

Step 31. Cut a panel of white card so it leaves a 3mm border all around the outside of the linen embossed panel.

Step 32. Stick the pinpoint embossed panel onto the white card making sure the piece is large enough to sit under the frame but not as wide as the outside edge

Step 33. Add the linen embossed panel onto the white card using foam tape for dimension. Now take a strip of the double row pearls and cut them down the centre of the strip. This will give you extra value and the smaller pearls too.

Step 34. Lay the cut pearls on the outer edge of the linen embossed panel.

Step 35. Create a base card by scoring a piece of silver card at 1 inch in from the edge and attaching another card to the tab. Cut the card to 9 ½” wide and retain the depth of the card as is. Attach the prepared panel onto the silver base using foam tape again. Lay in the intricate border over the vellum.

Step 36. Add the heart of the dress towards the top of the frame using foam tape. Now add 3 more of the pearl corners to the top of the tulle which lays just under the bodice area.

Step .37 Secure the pearls corners to the base of the card using a small amount of silicone glue underneath the pearls. This will anchor the tulle in place.

Step 38. Press the Creative Expressions dazzler setting into the clear and resist ink pad.

Step 39. Tip the Cosmic Shimmer lapis pearl embossing powder over the top.

Step .40 Heat set the powder making sure you have the dazzler setting on a heat mat as the dazzler will get hot.

DO NOT attempt to touch the dazzler until it has cooled down.

Step 41. Make a double bow using the 2 tone purple ribbon & attach it to the side of the wedding dress. Place a small amount of silicone glue over the knot of the bow.

Step 42. Make 2 decorative stick pins using the Creative Expressions pearl topped stick pins along with 2 faceted amethyst teardrop beads & 2 frosted amethyst faceted teardrop beads. Please use the glossy accents glue to secure each beads to each other and allow the beads to dry before adding them behind the dazzler setting. Add a sparkle embellishment to the centre of the dazzler.

Step 43. Stamp the `Congrats` sentiment onto a piece of white card in the dusty concord distress ink before cutting it out using the rectangle die in the Galicia die set. Keep the card in place once it`s been embossed and ink some of the dusty concord ink on a smoothie over the die piece.

Step 44. Attach the

sentiment to complete the

project.

Step 45. Here is the heart shaped bodice with pearl detail.

Step 46. The bottom of the tulle dress complete with pearl corner

embellishments and the pearl edging on the embossed linen card.
