Choosing your

ldquoIrsquove chosen to live in a single privately-owned studio apartment so I have the personal space and alone-time to study Itrsquos slightly more expensive but itrsquos been worth it All student accommodation comes with basic furniture and facilities but because itrsquos private some things I would have had to buy myself have been included ndash towels bedding a weekly cleaning service and even a hairdryer

ldquoItrsquos really important to research your accommodation options If yoursquore going to share look for students who are the same age range or studying at the same level as you A postgraduate student would live very differently to a group of first-year undergraduates for example

ldquoI feel really safe here as we have a 24-hour security guard We have a lot of shared facilities such as a games room a study room and even a small gym Having everything in one place has allowed me to just concentrate on my studiesrdquo

ldquoI decided to stay in University accommodation ndash halls ndash in my first year I wanted to meet people and get involved in new activities and living in halls provided both of these opportunities I first looked online Included in the price was internet all bills free bus travel and contents insurance

ldquoThe best thing about living in halls is how sociable it is Some of the people you move in with will be your friends throughout your life at NTU In halls therersquos always someone to talk to or relax with Itrsquos like becoming part of a community when you move in Donrsquot be afraid to knock on your neighbourrsquos door for a chat or join other people on nights out

You wonrsquot be alone and if you need any help and support wersquore there for you

NTU Faith is a wonderfully supportive team ndash there are prayer facilities at all campuses and opportunities to practise your faith through religious services or more spiritual spaces including meditation

You can talk to the University Chaplains about anything and they provide a free lunch in the Wellbeing room every week for students to meet If yoursquore looking for ways to give something back to the community you may even consider becoming an NTU Faith Ambassador

I also joined RockSoc this has helped me to make friends outside of my course and also means you meet people from other years

My advice is to really make the most of Welcome Week Join a society even if you donrsquot know anyone in it Making friends is so easy as everyone is in the same boatrdquo
