When walking out of a room, people tell others to turn off the lights. There is a reason behind this. Global warming. Many people think that global warming is just a phase that nature will fix. Some people think that global warming is just a small increase in temperature. Well, there is a lot more to it than just that.

Extinction rates have gone up 1,000 times higher since global warming has been a world wide problem. Climate change puts at least 20-30% of plant and animal species at risk of dying out for good. Water animals are affected very much from global warming. Rapid

changes occur in the water temperature, and this results in distorted food chains, which then results in the extinction of many species. Many animals live on ice, or live in icy waters. When temperatures change, and the ice melts, or the cold waters warm up, the animal's habitat is being destroyed and the animal can no longer live. The melting of so much ice results in the raising of sea level. This too can destroy the food chain and the marine life.

THE GREAT RECESSION OF 2009By Melanie NormanWe are currently in the middle of the worst economic

recession since the Great Depression of the 1930’s. Eight percent of the workers are unemployed and more are losing their jobs each day. Every day thousands of people are losing their jobs. Some of these people live by themselves or have to support a family. The economy has drastically affected peoples every day lives, such as the type of food they buy, how often they go shopping, and where they work.

Jobs are being lost across the entire economy. Manufacturing, financial, hospitality and mining are all losing

jobs as the economy shrinks. Even during the busy holiday shopping season last year, retailers still shrink by 66,600 workers in December alone.

Only two of ten industry categories have been hiring. Government hiring, which has stayed relatively strong throughout the downturn, is adding jobs. Education and health services also are growing pay rolls.

ANIMAL EXTINCTION AND GLOBAL WARMING CONTINUED Very few aquatic animals benefit from this crisis, and the ones that do are very rarely reported. Land and aquatic animals are both affected by global warming, but one is not harmed more

than the other. Land and aquatic animals are affected in their own ways. Most of this is happening because of human demand which causes global warming. The use of cars is now increasing and more and more lights in houses are being left on. This is the cause

of both global warming and pollution, and both of these concepts contribute to the extinction of many animals world wide.

It is very easy to do something about it. Trying is the key to the success in decreasing the extinction rate. Carpooling, or maybe even bike riding around instead of driving are ways to reduce the amount of pollution that is released into the air when we drive. Doing simpler things such as turning off the lights when we leave a room, or turning off the sinks when we are brushing our teeth can also help save the environment. To go more into depth, donating money to special companies to help save endangered animals is also an option. There is so much to do to help.

Animal extinction doesn't occur from global warming alone. Many other affects of extinction are pet trade, fur trade, bush meat trade, pollution, animal shootings and animal testing. 40% of medical prescriptions are found in nature and are made from the parts of both plants and animals. This is why people depend on animals to live. If all animals became extinct, people wouldn't be able to make a living by hunting them, trading fur and many other things. These types of things are okay, as long as they don't get out of hand. Every once in a while, an animal is hunted too much, and the animal becomes endangered. Animals can be hunted, as long as the animal is not hunted too much. This mess was started. Let’s fix it. Get out there and do something!

Some job losses are considered cyclical. These are jobs that are added and removed as the economy grows. One example of these are retail jobs. These jobs can be expected to return when the economy recovers from the recession. Other job losses are more permanent. Some industries had grown too big as a result of the housing boom. Two such industries are construction and financial services. These industries have shrunk significantly and the jobs are unlikely to return in many cases. These people will need to get work in other industries. Another industry that has shrunk permanently is the automobile industry. Many dealerships have been permanently closed by the government as the restructure the auto companies. These are jobs that will never come back.

People deal with being out of work in different ways. Some people look for a job that pays less money to keep paying their bills. Others get unemployment benefits and food stamps which help the poor survive between jobs. Many people are forced to cut back on their expenses, move to smaller homes or get a cheaper car to make ends meet. Many more people are spending less money even if they still have a job because they are worried that they may lose their job. This can make the recession even worse as less spending means even fewer jobs in the economy.

The government is trying to make things better. The government has passed a large stimulus package to try to help the economy spending $787 billion to try to keep people employed and invest in projects that will help the

economy. The government is also helping the states pay for their health care bills since with higher unemployment they are getting less tax revenue. Also, the government has expanded health benefits to include people that are unemployed.

Some areas of the country are doing better then others, though. Michigan is the worst state hit by the recession. This is because the auto companies are based in michigan. Their troubles are causing many people to lose their jobs permanently. The areas that are still growing are those that hadn’t overgrown when times were good. Mid western states that avoided the “bubble” over the last several years are still creating jobs. These economics have been largely unaffected. It is hoped that time will heal the rest of the nations economy and return the country to

In a scientists’ lab, guinea pigs are given liver cancer…on purpose. The scientists use their new medical treatment and hope it works, for they are testing it on these animals. Six out of the one hundred guinea pigs actually survive the cancer. The rest of the ninety-four guinea pigs are left to die. The scientists research a new treatment and test it out on another hundred guinea pigs. These animals will die in the end and most likely will go through a pa in fu l treatment. Is this right? Should we be testing on animals that don’t even have a say on the issue? Some people say that people benefit from animal testing and that people should be doing it. Animal testing has been a major impact on the safety of drugs and medicines. It has been a critical step in ensuring medical safety. Studies show that other methods are not as accurate as animal testing. The other method that would be most accurate would be testing on humans. If we did that, we would be giving people cancer and hoping it works, kill hundreds of people. People say that it contributes to the greater good and that it is a good thing to use animal testing.

Other people say that animal testing should be banned entirely. The body functions between animals such as rats are much different than human body functions, thus the data collected is sometimes useless. The researchers perform cruel tests on the animals and the results only lead to painful deaths for

the animals. People say that there is alternative to animal testing, for example, testing on tissue samples. These people say that is morally wrong to hurt

animals when they have no way to protect themselves. However, there have been some laws put in place to protect these animals, such as the Animal Welfare Act. This act requires the minimum standards of care for the animals in testing. Treatment must be provided for certain bred animals for commercial sale, transported commercially, or exhibited to the public. The Animal Welfare Act has been amended six times in 1970, 1976, 1985, 1990, 2002, and 2007. There have been other laws made protecting animals in animal testing, but all of them refer to the Anima l Wel fa re Act for min imum acceptable standard. Some people say that some of these laws are now useless because they have been “watered down.”

The argument in favor of permitting animal testing for any purpose for any product is not persuasive. Using animal testing for limited medical purposes can promote the greater good of the people, but using it for makeup is unjust and immoral. If we did not use animals for testing certain vaccines and treatments then we might have to use humans for such testing. That would kill many more human beings, which would be morally wrong. Without animal testing, we would never be where we are today.

There are many symptoms of AIDS and when they start to be noticable the best thing to do is contact a doctor. If uyuo dont it can lead to serious problems. The most common symptoms of HIV and AIDS are fatigue, weight loss, swollen glands in the neck or armpit, high fever, short of breath, and forgetfulness. There is no real cure for AIDS. There are many vaccines though that helps to slow down or isolate the virus. Many people with AIDS use these drugs and they really help.

There were 2 million people who died from AIDS. 33 million people were living with AIDS. 25 million people have died since 1981 from AIDS. AIDS has risen from only 8 million people living with AIDS in 1990 to 33 million people living with AIDS in 2007. Sub-Saharan Africa is the most affected area by AIDS. Every year about 1.5 million people die from AIDS in Africa this is because they don’t have enough money for treatment. Now because of AIDS the life expectancy there went from 62 to 47. In the US half a million people have died from AIDS and about 468,578 people were living with AIDS in 2007. This virus is growing very fast in areas that dont have much medical care but it is decreasing in the US becasue of medicines.

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. It is a medical condition that is caused by HIV. HIV is a virus that damages the natural defense against diseases. AIDS is a viral infection that weakens the immune system. It is the last stage of HIV and it can take years of having HIV to get AIDS. Also, AIDS is a virus that affects all racial groups, genders, or ethnicity.
