HOW CAN I PROTECT MYSELF?
Install a SECURITY SUITE to protect against Viruses,
Spyware, Trojans, Key Loggers, DNS Redirects, etc.
PC… If you are using Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 it already has Windows Defender
Mac… Officially, you don’t need one, but there are viruses out there. Try Sophos.
Android Phones… if you aren’t protected YOU ARE AT RISK! Try AVG.
INSTALL and Enable FIREWALL
(Use the one built into computer O.S.)
Make sure you BACKUP company data regularly

Networking Tools

If you need them, you can Pin them to the Taskbar or the Start Menu

To put it simply, EVERY Toolbar slows down your internet browsing experience and many Spy on you! … so don’t use them!
New Browsers such as Microsoft Edge don’t have Toolbars
Beware of Deceptive Software Installs from Oracle’s Java and Adobe Reader!
You need them but be aware of what you say “Yes” or “OK” to.

FILE SHARING
Drop Box – Allows for multiple people and locations to share the same folder. Note: Documents should be copy/ paste when used. (George’s Favorite)
Google Drive – Just like Drop Box but more space.
Google Docs – Good if you want to login to multiple accounts or from public computers. Does not play well with many printers and changes format.
Windows One Drive– Like Google Drive, this will allow you to login from any computer and have multiple accounts. However, it keeps your documents in their original format, and prints well.
Sugar Sync – Similar to One Drive… But annoying!
Others… Evernote, box, mobileMe, iTunes, iCloud…
THERE ARE RISKS TO FILE SHARING!!!
You Might Be Sued if Data Falls Into the Wrong Hands!!!

WHAT DO I DO IF?
I can’t break up a PDF? –
Use a .PDF printer like PDFill
(http://download.cnet.com/PDFill-PDF-Editor/3000-6675_4-10295757.html)
My documents are locked and I can’t submit them!
IMLS (208) 976-4657

Instanet (800) 668-8768
My computer isn’t working right –
When in doubt, REBOOT.
Check your Network Connections
Silvercreek wireless login (Silvercreek!)
Update your Browser
(Edge, IE11, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari,…)
13
TROUBLSHOOTING
Do you have the latest updates? If not, get them!
Are Updates waiting to be installed?
Make sure you’re running the latest versions
of Adobe Reader and Java.
Large Print Jobs take longer to Print
Can’t get mail? Use your Webmail interface instead of Outlook.
Not Receiving Scans or Faxes? Check your SPAM/ JUNK folder on server.
If you are trying to send a file and it won’t go, it is probably too big,
…try making it smaller.
Scans not getting through from home? PDF’s (Portable Document Files) shouldn’t be more than about 5 MBs. Lower your scan settings.
Never scan as a JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) unless it is a picture.
Know your limits… Max File Transfer size with IPv4 is 10 MB. IPv6 is 1 GB.
