Turkey has imposed additional customs duties on nine product categories, from textile, apparel and footwear products, to electrical appliances. It is expected that more products will be targeted in the future, including possibly medical devices.

These duties do not affect goods originating in the EU, but are imposed on goods that are in the EU but made elsewhere, or even goods transformed in the EU when the transformation is not sufficient to confer EU customs origin.

These duties breach several of Turkey’s international commitments, and in particular the WTO and the EU-Turkey customs union.

Join Green Lane, The Alliance of European Customs and Trade Law Firms, in discussing why these duties are illegal, what can be done and by whom.
