The Tripad has grown into a repository of the sweetest memories a net proudest moments. As

philosophers have noted, the best wa.yforwa.rd includes re fec tion about the past. Congratula­

tions to all the achievers and talents fea tu red in this volume. Plenty o f milestones have been

noted in this edition.

1 am glad that the Tripad has a timely release as we commence the new semester o f 2016. The

contents serve not only as a reminder, hut also as an inspiration. In the coming years, 1 wish

the Tripad grows with Trinity with even more spectacular triumphs o f Trinitians in all

spheres o f life.

Industrial V isit to KanthariThe students and faculty of Civil department visited Kanthari, an educational and training institute

situated at Vellayani on 16th February 2016 . It was co-founded by Sabriye Tenberken and Paul

Kronenberg in 2 00 9 as an extension of their pioneering project Braille without borders. , It was a

Communication departm ent went to M Squared at Technopark, Trivandrum on 5th feb . They got an

amazing opportunity to interact with the Business De­velopment Head of the company in the morning. Later, the students visited the software development wing

also and the official people there explained the pro­cess of iOS application development. Mr. M arvin Suraj Koshy and Mrs. Thrill Merin M athew accompa­nied the students.

The bold and beautiful entrepreneur Ms. Chandra Vadhana interacted with the students and

faculty of Trinity College on 1 9th of February . She gave an awesome orientation to the students on

entrepreneurial thinking. It was a fun filled and entertaining session with handful of activities and thoughts.Faculty also had a nice interactive session with her on updated teaching methods for profes­sional courses.

Mrs. M eena and Mrs. Anjana from Trinity Skillworks came to Trinity College to introduce Assured

Placement Program which guides students to find better career. The final year students who were seek­ing for a good placement somewhere will get authentic ideas through this program. Trinity Skillworks

assures that students with right attitude and required skills would be easily qualified for a job and they

were provided a strong platform that helps such students to fetch their dream jobs. The introductory

program was conducted under the aegis of IEDC, Trinity College of Engineering on 0 4 th of February

Visit to Amritha School of Bio-TechnologyOur final year students Reshma Revikumar, Anoopa and

Silpa from Dept, of ECE done their B.tech project and re­

search on microbial fuel cell under the guidance of

Dr.Achuthsankar S Nair, HOD of Computational Biology and Bio-informatics, Karyavattom. They had visited Amrita

school o f Biotechnology at Kollam for exploring the possibil­

ity o f bio-fuel experiments on 2nd of February 2016. The purpose o f the visit was well served. They had a personal in­

teraction with Dr.Ajith Madhavan .The best part is that,

Dr. Ajith Madhavan was willing to support us in all possible ways (Projects/ Training /co llabora tion ). A part from bio-

electicity, biosensors was yet another area Dr. Ajith M adha­

van was interested. Infact he welcomed the students from

electronics background to his lab.

PCB Design and Fabrication hands on Workshop

Industrial based PCB workshop was organized in department o f ECE on 20th February 201 6. 45 students were par­ticipated in the workshop. Software based designing was done on ISIs. Students were divided into three batches

and each batch was given a kit fo r the fabrication. The kit includes the essential components and tools fo r the PCB

fabrication.The workshop was organized by Mr. Blesson Mathews Luke(A P, Dept.ECE), Mr. Krishnan Unni J.S (Research associative, Dept. ECE) . Mr.Harikumar and Mr.Padmagireesh (Lab Staffs, Dept. ECE) were assisted them,

SUMMER INTERNSHIPThirteen Students from S2 ECE had an internship o f one month on embedded system programming organized by Protohertz and Trinity College o f engineering under the guidance of Mr. Krishnan Unni Research Associate o f ECE. Training program given to students to develop software and hardware design o f ARDUINO and ISIS software in their own embedded programming using embedded platform. Each student was given a develop­ment kit including Arduino Board,sensors and other basic components fo r developing their own ideas.

points discussed were the various components of the project “Technology Adoption fo r Re­duction of Vulnerability in Fishing” funded by IEEE Sight. The team explained the problems faced by artisanal deep sea fisherman using pictures which

made the students understand the issues as well as the need fo r equipment through pictures. A proposal by

a student on the making of a Nano-boat was the highlight of the event.

All Kerala Trinity Trophy Open Chess tournament, in association with Trivandrum chess academ y, was conducted on April 14, 2 0 16 at the auditorium of Trinity College of Engineering. Thiruvanathapuram dis­trict collector Mr. BijuPrabhakar IAS inaugurated the event. More than 100 participants from various districts across Kerala were participated.
