Ahh!! Spring has sprung. As

mild as our winter was I don’t enjoy

any cold temps anymore., cold mean-

ing below 50 degrees.

Kudos to our Tyler Walt for

organizing and promoting our lodge

outing for 20 or so of us to the rodeo in

Arcadia on March 10th. A good time

was had by all.

The Lodge Sale Committee had

an organizational meeting on Monday

March 26th where we addressed some

of the efforts that will be required if we

receive any additional offers. R:.W:.

Barry D. Hart volunteered and was ap-

pointed the Point Brother for all con-

tact with a prospective buyer. We have

two Masonic Brothers who have

agreed to assist us, both are commer-

cial real estate brokers.

Just a reminder, if you have any

questions don’t hesitate to text, Email

or call me.

Many thanks to the Craig's,

Rodger for his invaluable help with

masonic education and Louise for hav-

ing our dining room reflect the chang-

ing seasons. Thanks to you both.

Junior Deacon Brother Jud

Brome presented Brothers Randal Ai-

ken Jr. Stephen Corkran, Matt Palmer

and Herman Cadina to return their Fel-

low Craft proficiency with an outstand-

ing presentation. They will be raised to

Master Masons on Saturday April 14,

2018 at 9:00 AM.

Lunch is still at Darrell’s, 11:45

AM every Wednesday. Join your

brothers for some good food and a

good time.

This is the time of year when

some of our brothers and their families

will be heading back to the north coun-

try. We wish you a safe journey.

Fraternally,

W:M:. Gene Scheuring

G r e e t i n g s f r o m t h e We s t

Spring is upon us and Passo-

ver and Easter are here. I hope that

you have a joyous reunion with fami-

ly and friends and take some time to

relax and ponder all the blessings of

this life.

I am on my way to Washing-

ton D.C. and I am looking forward to

visiting some historic sites and re-

flecting on the history that our great

fraternity has contributed to our na-

tion’s capital. One great place to visit

is the George Washington Masonic

National Memorial – just a short drive

outside the city – in Alexandria, VA.

“The George Washington Ma-

sonic National Memorial is a memori-

al and museum, an active Masonic

temple, a research library, a cultural

space, a community and performing

arts center, and an important regional

landmark. The George Washington

Masonic National Memorial was built

in the 1920s by the more than two

million American Freemasons.

The mission of the Memorial

is to inspire humanity through educa-

tion to emulate and promote the vir-

tues, character and vision of George

Washington, the Man, the Mason and

Father of our Country. In 2015, the

George Washington Masonic National

Memorial was added to the United

States government’s official list of

National Historic Landmarks and Na-

tional Register of Historic Places.” If

you have the opportunity to travel to

the area, I highly recommend that you

check it out!

I would like to congratulate

our brothers who will receive their

Masonic aprons this month. “The

apron of white leather, made of lamb

skin, is a distinguishing badge worn

by every member of the Masonic Or-

der, and without which no brother can

be admitted within the portals of a

Lodge, nor allowed to take part in any

Masonic procession of solemnity.” It

is hoped that you wear it with pleas-

ure and honor.

Fraternally,

Adam S. Kendall, Senior Warden

Charity of the Month: St. Francis

Society Animal Rescue. 1925 S. Tami-

ami Trail, Venice Fl, 34293 941-492-

6200

St. Francis Society Animal Res-

cue is an all volunteer, nonprofit 501-c-3

animal rescue organization dedicated to

saving the lives of sick, injured, and

stray domestic animals as well as spay-

ing/neutering and medical services for

those animals. They seek to place ani-

mals in loving foster or permanent

homes after recovery and they do not

euthanize unless terminal illness necessi-

tates such a decision. All of their ani-

mals are spayed/neutered, tested for leu-

kemia/FIV, wormed and vaccinated be-

fore they are adopted.

Masonic Quote of the Month:

Not all Masons are obligated on

the Christian Bible. Masonry is univer-

sal and men of every creed are eligible

for membership so long as they accept

the Fatherhood of God and the Brother-

hood of Man. Therefore, the candidate

should be obligated on the Book of the

Sacred Law which he accepts as such

since his obligation is a solemn and

binding one. Brother George Washing-

ton. 1st President of the United States

(1789), and 1st Worshipful Master Alex-

andria Lodge #22, (1788).

Masonic Education

The wearing of a hat while pre-

siding in the East is not optional, in-

cluding during open installation of

Lodge Officers. Our Regulations state

that the Worshipful Master is required

to remove his hat only for the Grand

Master in person, during prayer and at

certain times during ceremonies.

The hat is a distinguishing mark

by which the importance of the Mas-

ter’s Office is signalized, a visible and

conspicuous sign of his position as

presiding Officer and titular head of

the Lodge. In Grand Lodge Communi-

cations, of course, only the Grand

Master remains covered.

The hat should always be re-

moved during prayer as a sign of re-

spect to the Great Architect of the Uni-

verse. It should be removed when giv-

ing the obligations, as a token to their

authority. If a funeral is held in church,

or in a chapel, it should be removed as

a sign of reverence. The proper hat for

funerals is a black hat according to the

Florida Monitor. At graveside funerals

it should be removed when prayer is

first offered and not worn during the

remainder of the service. The Worship-

ful Master and Brethren may wear

headpieces at the funeral of a deceased

Brother whose religion requires such.

The kind of hat a Master should

wear is determined wholly by good

taste. A cap or stiff straw hat is always

inappropriate. The only governing

principle is good taste, and in defer-

ence to that, a Master will never wish

to wear any style of hat that will attract

attention out of oddity or will derogate

from the dignity of his office.

The Scottish Rite is widely considered to be the University of Ma-sonry. You are invited and encouraged to spend one weekend in Tampa at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center on May 5th & 6th.

Witness numerous degrees performed on stage in full costume by members of the Scottish Rite. There is nothing for you to memo-rize. You just, watch, learn, and enjoy. The experience will open your mind to new thoughts. At the end of one weekend, you will be a 32° Mason!
