Welcome back Meeting Fun, Games, and Bonding

From Trenzuda Norma Ortiz:After coming back from a much needed winter

break, It was nice seeing all my TRENZUDAS again at the welcome back meeting. Catching up with everyone and sharing winter break stories made me feel like we never had vacation. The shoulder

tapping activity made me realize how much I mean to my TRENZUDAS and how much they mean to me. The TRENZA trivia game that we

played outside was really fun even though random people kept staring at us. The Welcome Back meeting was a great reminder of why I love TRENZA so much and a great start to the Spring

semester.

From Trenzuda Maribel Patiño:Welcome back meeting was awesome! I got to see alot of old faces and catch up with everyone:) the activity was super fun! I got to put my

squats to work, even if Tania says I looked like I was going

to the bathroom haha :)

First General Body Meeting!

The First General Body Meeting is one of my favorites, because we talk about all things TRENZA!! We explore our beautiful logo, strands, and TRENZA History. If you

missed the meeting, here's a mini recap:) The most important date in the history of TRENZA

is October 12, 1994 (the day we were estab-lished). Our three strands are 1) Community Service 2) Unity of Sisterhood (through Aca-demic and Social Support) and 3) Pride in our Chican@/Latin@ Heritage. Our beautiful logo is composed of many different features and each component has a wonderful meaning

behind it (Check the image below!!).

At this meeting, I really enjoyed the 2014 Goals activity we did, because I think it's really important to start the year off with specific goals in mind:) I also enjoyed the

TRENZA 101 game. It seemed like everyone was having fun:P

TRENZA Fun Fact:Our first motto was "If it's not strong, it's not beautiful" (which was taken from a Pantene shampoo advertise-ment talking about

hair)

Leslie HernandezElixir was definitely a great start to the semester. I’m trying to make the best of my last semester of my senior year, so going to TRENZA’s first club party was a must. I loved everything about that night. Everybody and their moms, tias and grandmothers were there! With three full party buses, it was definitely a full house. I managed to convince my friends who live in the city to come thru and some of my close friends from Berkeley. One of my friends had never gone to an SF club party so I had to show him how TRENZA turns up. It was an awesome night and I loved how they played a lot of Latin music since cumbias are my favorite. I was definitely dancing all night. Huge props to the awesome steering and of course the amazing Jazmin for making this event happen.Much TRENZA love <3<3

SARA OCHOAElixir was the Bee's Knees! As always, I am too down to dance my feet off at a TRENZA function because I love to get groovy, but Elixir was especially amazing because I got to bring a special group of friends along with me that night... The week leading up to the party was also the week before the Vagina Mono-logues Production opening night at UC Berkeley and it was pretty hectic. The night of Elixir I was at rehearsal with my Crew for the show and I told them about this great party I was going to that was being thrown by TRENZA. They started asking me more about TRENZA and of course I told them how amazing ya'll are and more about why we throw these club events, and to my surprise one of my crew members said "Well then lets all go!" So we finished all of our work early for the night and ran to my apartment where we threw on some dresses and rushed to the party buses. We had a GREAT time!!! All of my crew had so much fun dancing that night and it was a great way to just relax and dance stress away. But what was even better is that two groups of amazing womyn that I love having in my life came together, and it was beautiful. My VagMons Crew cannot wait for the next TRENZA club event that we throw, so they can come out and dance with us again!!!

From Trenzuda Veronica Abad:Yay Spring Retreat! Spring Retreat was so much fun especially being able to run around campus and Berke-ley. It was great to spend more time with my Trenzu-das, have lots of laughs, and see new parts of Berkeley

I haven't seen. Even though we were so close to winning, I'm glad I was able to go and spend my

Saturday with some amazing girls and get a little bit of exercise while we were at it. Sushi after a fun filled afternoon definitely was the cherry on top! Shout out

to Vicky for putting it all together, thanks love <3

Spring retreat was a great experience! It was tiring to have to run all over Berkeley, but it was a fun at the same time. Especially cause my team won! Yay lol Over all I am glad that I got to spend my bday with other trenzudas. Thank you for everyone that wished me a happy birthday and thank you so much for the

cake. Ps: I can't wait to see what TRENZA has in store for

the rest of the semester.

with them for the Superbowl will become an annual thing.

From Trenzuda Gricelda Mendez:I'm not much of a football fan, or even a sports fan in general, to be

honest, so I was afraid that the Superbowl social with the Hermanos from SF State was going to be awk-ward, especially since I didn't go to the karaoke social so I didn't know any of them. But the social turned out to be lots of fun! Sure, there

were some technical difficulties here and there, but I didn't care, I wasn't even watching haha These guys are

super nice and funny and made mingling around fun Also,

shout-out to my babygurl Ally Galarte for enjoying 'the view' with

me :)

ALEJANDRA REYNOSO

So the idea for Galentine's Day came to me from my favorite show, Parks and Recreation. I loved the idea of having a special day to show your friends how much you appreciate them, and I really wanted to bring that to TRENZA. All you girls are

extremely special to me, and I hope that this event really fostered our

bonds of friendship and encouraged us to discern the extremely powerful presence of love in all aspects of our

lives. Whether it was decorating cookies, eating delicious food, or

writing beautiful poetry, I had a really marvelous night spending time with

all of my lovely Trenzud@s! Shout out to Gris for being my co-planner for

this event - you rock!

end it worked LOL. I'm glad the tradition came

back to life this year!

BOWLING with GAMMA ZETA ALPHA

GRICELDA MENDEZ ZARCOI suck at bowling. Big time. So I didn't even bowl at this social, but I had an AWESOME time being a cheerleader for our TRENZud@s and the Gammas The guys are all super friendly and nice, especially the little babies lol Albany Bowl is also a great place for fun since it has food, games, and bowling, so I'm down to go again and even play this time! Let me know if you're down, I'll be your cheerleader ;D
