Trench Warfare The trench warfare were used for soldiers to

dig trenches to avoid enemy fire

Soldiers could die while in the trenches caused by poor weather which made them get a disease

Daily Routine

The soldiers were woken up very early by a sergeant

The soldiers would have to stay up until dawn so that they could see if there was an enemy coming to attack

Each day the soldiers would have inspection after breakfast

At inspection the weapons would be checked to make sure they were clean and ready for war

What did the Soldiers fear for in the Trench

Warfare?The soldiers feared of being shot or losing a

friend in the war

Gas was a problem caused the soldiers never expected it

They feared never seeing family again

Feared of getting diseases like trenches foot

Diseases Trench Fever- is a bacterial infection caused by multiple high fevers.

Symptoms- the person will be scratching their face causing a tiny wound, then a infection called Bartonella a infected ticks bites the human which also cases trench fever Trench Mouth- it was a form of gingivitis that causes painful, infected, and

bleeding to the gums

Symptoms- Gum pain, bleeding when pressure to the gums, painful when eating, and gray film on the gums Trench Nephritis- inflammation of the kidneys

Treatment- disappears in time with no treatment Trench foot- infection in the feet caused by the cold and wet weather

conditions

Treatment- Change their socks several times a day so that their socks aren’t wet or cold also they need to dry their feet in a grease made from whale-oil

To get rid of lice the soldiers would use fuel with vinegar added to help get rid of it

What do soldiers do for fun?

The soldiers would gamble and drink a lot

Read letters from home

Find ways to kill the diseases they had

What were dangers of being in the trench?

The trenches could collapse on the soldiers

Lice which could little by little suck out all the blood in the soldier

The weather got cold so the soldiers would get diseases like pneumonia or any lung disease

When it rained the trench would fill up with water so the trench would be flooded
