I would like to share my travelogue on my latest vacation to Mcleodganj for Chill

Out, Life+Style, The Triune!

Tremendous Triund

I and my college friends decided to go somewhere to make our last summer

together memorale "#une $%&' eing the end of our graduation(! )e thought of

trekking which none of us had ever e*erienced and Triund was the erfect sot!

It was an e*erience to rememer! Trekking is the est way to e*erience nature!

ight from the oint when you ste into trekking trail, you are in a di-erent

world!

Chandigarh was set as the rende.vous from where we started our journey! Our

grou had ' memers / akshit Sood "myself( , Sahil 0arg , Tanuj 1akshi , Sooraj

2ggarwal and 3iyush 4arang! 2ll 5nal year 1!6! students from Thaar 7niversity,

3atiala!

Day 1 (en route))e went y ta*i and had the 5rst day reserved for some laces in the journey!

Our 5rst sto was the holy city of 2nandur Sahi! )e visited the famous

0urudwara, o-ered rayers and had langar! Then we went to 8irasat/e/9halsa

which is a museum of the Sikhs, located near to the 0urudwara! The museum

celerates '%% years of the Sikh history and the :%%th anniversary of the irth of

9halsa, ased on the scritures written y the tenth and last guru, 0uru 0oind

Singh! 4e*t sto was 4aina ;evi Temle in 1ilasur district! 2fter that we straightaway headed to our destination ;haramshala "reached there late evening(!

Day 2 (Mesmerizing McLeodganj)&! 1hagsunath

Started early morning for McLeodganj! Ta*i droed us to the market area! <rom

there, started the hike for 1hagsunath Temle which is $!' km from McLeodganj!

&km trek stee into the hill from the Temle leads to 1hagu <alls! 1hagsu <alls is

a eautiful waterfall, situated in the small village of 1hagsu, ehind the

1hagsunath Temle! Took di in the chilled water coming out fresh from;hauladar ange snow! ested a while enjoying the scenic eauty and walked

ack to Mcleoadganj!

It was a good &km walk! There were a numer of touristy cute little cafes, where

during the daytime one can read a ook and enjoy good food! oadside stalls

sold local handicrafts= ags, stone jewellery and metal stu-!

:! ;alai Lama Temle

)e aid a visit to the ;alai Lama temle which is at the one end of the marketwhere we got a taste of the Tietan culture! )e witnessed their traditional style



of deate wherein they cla their hands to emhasi.e their oints! )e visited a

newly renovated museum in the temle comle*! The museum dislays the

enormous cultural wealth of Tiet and also the struggle that their eole in Tiet

are facing since the Chinese have invaded and taken over their homeland!

4. Triund

The triund hill is located &%kms from the town! Since we were little short of time

we took a ta*i till 0alu Temle "$&&' Metres( which is at the ase of the ascent!

There is a >km rocky trek from here! The trail is a gently rising one, through oak

thickets! )e had a reak half way at one of the ;haa called Magic 8iew! )e had

chis and a ottle of fresh sring water! The second art of trek was little di?cult

with the sloe increasing gradually! There was this last stretch of the trail leading

u to Triund where the sloe was very stee, the curves very shar and the

reath very short! 1ut, all your e*haustion will go away once you reach the to,the 5nal destination! The view was magical! )e were so close to the snow

covered ;hauladhar range that it felt like a waking dream! @ere we were at $AB'

meters after covering an altitude of aro*imately B%%m in hours! )e Duickly

made arrangements for our overnight stay at the camsite on the Triund @ill! Our

cams were ready and the on5re was set ala.e! )e sat around it, warming our

hands and feet, in comlete ama.ement of the world we were in!

There isnEt much choice of food in Triund! <ew stalls were there! Tea, cold drinks,

mineral water, iscuits, Maggi, eggs and meal of a vegetale and roti were

availale! 2 meal of daal/chawal/roti/achaar made our dinner!

Day 3)oke u early! @ad a walk on Triund idge! Took hotograhs! @ad tea and read

/omelette in the reakfast! Saw the sunrise "at around B amF( and started

walking ack for McLeodganj!

On the way ack to Chandigarh, we did some local sight/seeing at ;haramshala!

)e visited @imachal 3radesh Cricket 2ssociation Stadium or @3C2 Stadium which

is an international cricket stadium! The venue was uniDue as it had the snow/

caed ;hauladar Mountains in the ackground! Our last halt was ;haramsala

)ar Memorial! Then we headed ack to Chandigarh!

I do recommend this tri for 5rst time trekkers! ItEs a uniDue e*erience! 2
