DAY 3 – Sphinx and the Great Pyra-mids of GizaAfter breakfast, enjoy a tour to the Pyramidsof Saqqara located south of Cairo. Close tothe Ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis, itcontains burials from much of Egypt’s his-tory. You’ll enjoy an included lunch at a localrestaurant. This afternoon, visit the greatPyramids of Giza followed by a visit to theSphinx. The last remaining ‘wonder’ of theSeven Wonders of the Ancient World, theGreat Pyramids of Giza are perhaps the mostfamous and discussed structures in history.The Great Sphinx of Giza stands, on the GizaPlateau, on the west bank of the Nile. TheSphinx of Giza is a symbol that has repre-sented the essence of Egypt for more than4,500 years. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 4 – Tour of CairoYour day begins with a tour of the EgyptianMuseum of Antiquities. Here you’ll see thespectacular treasures of King Tutankhamenand the extensive collection of Egyptian arti-facts covering 5,000 years. Following an in-cluded lunch, visit the iconic Citadel ofSaladin and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali.Round out your day in Cairo with a visit tothe world’s oldest marketplace which datesback as far as 1382. Meals: B, L

DAY 5 – Nile River Cruise, Karnak andLuxor TemplesDepart for the Cairo airport for an earlymorning flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, youwill be transferred to your river ship, MSMayfair, for a four night cruise on the NileRiver. Following lunch onboard, visit theKarnak Temple Complex which comprises avast mix of decayed temples, chapels, py-lons, and other buildings. This complex, a

city of temples built over 2,000 years ago, isthe largest religious building ever con-structed. Luxor Temple is a large templecomplex in the city today, known as Luxor,which was founded in 1400 BC. Luxor isunique among the main Egyptian templecomplexes in having only two Pharaohsleave their mark on its architectural struc-ture. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 6 – Valley of the Kings and EdfuToday’s excursion visits the stunning tombsat the Valley of the Kings where, for a periodof nearly 500 years, tombs were constructedfor the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of theNew Kingdom. The walls of the tombs arecovered with hieroglyphic writing includingtext from the Book of the Dead. You’ll visitthe Queen Hatshepsut Temple which tookfifteen years to complete, between the 7thand the 22nd years of her reign. A photostop is made by the giant Colossi of Mem-non. This afternoon we sail to Edfu locatedon the west bank of the Nile River, somesixty miles south of Luxor. Its ancient namewas Wetjeset-Hrw, or “The Place WhereHorus is Extolled.” Meals: B, L, D

DAY 7 – Kom Ombo After breakfast, visit the Temple of Horus inEdfu which is dedicated to Horus, the fal-con-headed god. Not only is this the bestpreserved ancient temple in Egypt, but it isthe second largest after Karnak. In the after-noon, sail to Kom Ombo, a pleasant agricul-tural town and home to many Nubians. Visitthe unusual Temple of Kom Ombo dedicatedto both Horus and the Crocodile God Sobek.After re-embarking, the ship sails for Aswan.Meals: B, L, D

DAY 8 – Aswan Your morning is at leisure in Egypt’s thirdlargest city, Aswan – small enough to walkaround and graced with the most beautifulsetting on the Nile. Spend the day strollingthe broad Corniche, watching the sailboatsor sitting in a floating restaurant listening toNubian music and eating freshly caught fish.Or choose an optional excursion to the AbuSimbel Temples. This afternoon, enjoy a sce-nic felucca ride on the Nile. A felucca is atraditional sailboat, relying solely on wind-power, used to transport people and goodson the river. What a great way to enjoy someof the stunning views of the Nile, just asCleopatra did so many centuries ago! Meals: B, L, D

DAY 9 – Return to CairoAfter breakfast onboard, disembark the shipand enjoy a short tour to visit the lovelyTemple of Philae, followed by a visit of theHigh Dam. Philae was one of the last out-posts of Egyptian religion, surviving twocenturies after the Roman Empire convertedto Christianity. Lunch is included at a localrestaurant during the tour. On your visit tothe High Dam, which separates Lake Nasserfrom the Nile, you’ll be astounded at the sizewhich is over 11,000 feet long. Followingthe tour, transfer to the Aswan airport andreturn to Cairo. Tonight your Tour Managerhosts a Farewell Dinner at the hotel. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 10 – Cairo / USAThis morning, transfer to the Cairo airportand return home with memories of the lifeenriching experiences from Egypt and yourcruise along the Nile River. Meal: B
